Here is everything you need to know about Samsung Galaxy S20+ before you buy

Samsung Galaxy S20+ is the newest addition to there Samsung Galaxy collection of smartphones. Here is what you should know about this new high end android based mobile phone.

Previously we talked about Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, and now we are back with Samsung Galaxy S20+

.

Samsung Galaxy S20+

#GB    #storage    #capacities    #optional    #card

For the Ultra 5 G in specific, we ‘ve heard 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB capacities all mentioned, with the larger probably tied to that model’s 16 GB RAM option.

And they all have a minimum of 128 GB of storage, along with the ability to upgrade via optional microSD cards.

Besides the 512 GB packs, Samsung will also start producing the ultrafast eUFS 3.1 storage memory in 256 GB and even 128 GB capacities, which comes as tangential confirmation that Note 20 Plus will ship with 128 GB of basic storage, just like the S20 series.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is up for pre – order now for PS1,199 ( 128 GB storage ) or PS1,399 ( 512 GB storage ) from Samsung direct and from PS79 a month on EE.

#charging    #adapter    #power    #Qi    #pad

The pad is compatible with all phones that support Qi charging, and can deliver up to 10 watts of power — though for that you’ll need a Samsung fast – charge wall adapter or any adapter that supports QuickCharge 2.0 or 3.0.

Fast 15W wireless charging and 7W wireless power – sharing is also available – great for charging your Galaxy Buds+ or other Qi – compatible phones from the back of the S20 Ultra.

And why would you, especially if you can get a wireless charging pad for about the same price as a premium charging cable?

Fully charging the S20 Ultra took 70 minutes with the included power adapter, but closer to two hours with other 30 – 45W USB – C chargers.

#performance    #Snapdragon    #Exynos    #tests

The new middle cores of the Snapdragon 865 also outperform the performance cores of the Snapdragon 855, and that does signify for quite a large multi – threaded performance boost.

The web browsing test in PCMark is quite sensitive to performance responsiveness, and in this regard, the new Snapdragon 865 doesn’t disappoint.

At the highest performing settings, the new Galaxy S20 Ultra even outperforms the QRD865 platform that we tested back in December.

And it has a Samsung Exynos 990 processor, although some variants of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra sold in the US use the Snapdragon 865 instead.

In addition, from published benchmarks, the Samsung Exynos chip is inferior in both performance and battery efficiency, and phones using those chips are easily rooted.

#refresh    #rate    #resolution

But we could argue a full – display screen is more meaningful than either ultra – high resolution or high refresh rate.

Content that will look brilliant at 3200 x 1400 resolution, and run smooth with support for a 120 Hz refresh rate ( up to 1080p ).

The past year has seen extra – high – refresh – rate screens gain prominence, and those silky frame rates can go a long way towards making a phone subjectively feel faster.

The screen’s 120Hz refresh rate is twice the standard 60Hz, and faster still than last year’s OnePlus 7 Pro and Pixel 4.

Most phones have 60-Hz screens, and doubling the refresh rate means the screen can show content at 120 frames per second instead of 60, resulting in super – fluid animations and smoother – looking games.

#phone    #Apple    #iPhone

I typically use an iPhone, but after temporarily switching to Samsung’s Galaxy S20 I found several advantages that Samsung offers over Apple.

Three new editions of the Samsung Galaxy premium series, the S20, will be out on March 6 and continue Samsung’s march toward many new features that try to out – spec Apple’s iPhone.

But switching to one of Samsung’s latest smartphones, the Galaxy S20 Ultra, has served as a reminder of the key ways in which Apple and Samsung — 2 of the world’s most popular phone vendors — differentiate themselves.

By all accounts, Samsung’s imaging quality looks like it will be one of the biggest reasons to pick up a Galaxy S20 phone.

The Galaxy S20 has a more subtle camera cutout than the iPhone, but Apple’s facial recognition tech is generally perceived as being more secure.

#edge    #selfie    #hole

The screen stretches all the way to the corners of the phone, with a small, centered hole punch for the selfie camera.

The edge – to – edge design makes the most of the minimal bezel but it doesn’t curve around the screen in the same’ Edge screen ‘manner as the Note 10.

Samsung’s new phone stands out for its ultra – fast display, edge – to – edge design, and amusing camera features.

The hole – punch selfie camera is small and unobtrusive, a big improvement on some similar implementations over the last few years.

The nearly bezel – less Infinity – O display has no notch, just a small cutout for the selfie camera, helping to immerse you within your games, TV shows, and movies.

#fingerprint    #scanners    #sensor    #display    #tech

The display industry analyst who tipped the Note 20 + LTPO display tech, is also suggesting that Samsung may utilize Qualcomm’s latest 3D Sonic Max in – display finger scanning technology.

The smartphone’s sensors include Fingerprint ( under display, ultrasonic ), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer along with ANT+, Bixby natural language commands and dictation, Samsung DeX ( desktop experience support ).

Hands – on interactions with the S20 + show the scanner operating without any extra illumination, suggesting a return to ultrasonic tech.

Qualcomm also claims that its new fingerprint sensor is faster than the previous generation, but we have yet to hear by how much, and can’t wait to pit that tech against the S20 series scanners if it makes it to the Note 20 models.

#costs    #Ultra    #specs

These are Samsung’s eleventh – generation phones — let’s look at the Galaxy S20 specs, Galaxy S20 + specs, and Galaxy S20 Ultra specs.

With the Galaxy S20 costing you $ 999, Galaxy S20 + at $ 1,199 and the Galaxy S20 Ultra at $ 1,399.

Both models are available from 30 May 2020 onwards at S$1,498 ( Samsung Galaxy S20 + ) and S$1,898 ( Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra ) respectively.

For comparison, the Galaxy S20 costs PS799, the Galaxy S20 + costs PS999, the Galaxy Note 10 + costs PS999 and the Galaxy Z Flip costs PS1,300; the Google Pixel 4XL costs PS829, the OnePlus 7 T Pro costs PS669 and the Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max costs PS1,149.

#selfie    #video    #angle    #shoots

The triple camera system features a 12MP ultra – wide, 12MP wide, and 64MP telephoto camera – plus a 10MP selfie camera.

While on the front there is a 10 MP camera for shooting selfies and features options such as Dual video call and Auto – HDR.

The 40MP selfie camera shoots 10MP images by default, again using pixel binning, and produces some of the very best, most detailed shots I ‘ve seen on any selfie camera.

Furthermore, for the super – smooth video takes care of Super Steady technology, while the 40 MP front camera promises perfect selfies.

Other highlights include a Pro Video mode with manual controls, Single Take which promises to effortless grab great stills from casual filming, and Smart Selfie Angle that would automatically choose the optimal camera for pics of larger groups.

#gesture    #bar    #swipe    #navigation

Samsung does not enable this by default, and it is in the Settings – > Display – > Navigation Bar – > Full Screen Gestures toggle.

One UI 2 defaults to the traditional three – button Android navigation bar, but Android 10’s new gesture navigation system makes using the super – sized screen easier.

With this setting, there are 3 swipe up bars on the bottom of the screen, compared to 1 swipe up bar on the iPhone, for running apps, home screen and back button.

The one thing that I did love about the Samsung S20 ultra is the implementation of full screen gestures that pretty much make the iPhone’s swipe up for home screen gesture lame and crippled in comparison.

#pixel    #sensor    #binning    #focusing

It is made for pixel binning, and takes 12-megapixel photos as standard : nine pixels on the sensor make one in the final image.

The main 108MP camera shoots 12MP photos by default, combining nine pixels on the sensor into one pixel of final image, in a process known as pixel binning.

The bad part, however, is that Samsung’s acclaimed Dual Pixel autofocus system that tags two opposite photodiodes to each and every pixel in a sensor for extremely fast and accurate focusing, has not been used with pixel – binning so far.

Galaxy Note20 + will still use 108mp HM1, but add a new sensor to assist in focusing and completely solve the focusing problem.

Otherwise, it uses a process called pixel binning to group adjacent pixels together so they can take in more light for a brighter shot.

#zoom    #phone

The quartet of cameras allows you to smoothly zoom from ultrawide angle ( 0.5x ), through the wide angle ( 1x ) and out to 4x optical zoom, then on to 10x hybrid zoom.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra is also being hyped as having 100x zoom, but the zoom is actually a digital zoom that just crops the small parts of an image and blows it up.

From there you’re into what Samsung calls Space Zoom , which is essentially a digital zoom on top, taking you all the way to 100x magnification.

The cameras can get close with up to 30x super resolution zoom, and incredibly detailed with up to 8 K videos.

The zoom is the star of the show though, rivalling the previous zoom king, the Huawei P30 Pro, which uses a similar periscope lens system for a 5x optical zoom.

#SIM    #card    #Verizon    #G    #USA

Non – USA versions can handle 2 SIM cards and come with a tray that can hold 2 physical SIM cards.

The US version does not have the dual / hybrid SIM card tray that can either hold one SIM card and a MicroSD memory card, or hold 2 SIM cards.

USA variants will have to support CDMA ( Sprint or Verizon ) carriers, so dual physical SIM cards are not supported in the USA version.

Verizon will be selling the Galaxy S20 later this Spring , because it is a Sub-6 5 G smartphone, it doesn’t work with Verizon’s current 5 G network.

From 5 G network speeds to 8 K videos, the Galaxy S20 5 G SM – G981U 128 GB Smartphone from Samsung pushes forward what’s possible with smartphone technology.

#shots    #mode    #produces

The camera can also shoot full 108MP shots, but I found that most of the time the 12MP mode produced better images.

The 12MP ultrawide camera produces some really good shots in most lighting conditions, excellent for creating a fisheye effect close up or for capturing more of a cityscape in one shot.

The live focus portrait mode is improved too, but given that the wide – angle camera takes images with plenty of natural bokeh, I found I didn’t need to use the artificial mode.

Indeed, 100x images are categorically poor, and are best used to show off the mad – sounding feature without letting your camera – savvy friends actually look at the results.

#glass    #case    #time    #justifying    #Gorilla

The smartphone is built with Glass front ( Gorilla Glass 6 ), glass back ( Gorilla Glass 6 ), and aluminum frame.

If the S20 Ultra has a hard time justifying its price, the S20 Plus has a hard time justifying its existence.

To take advantage of this feature and if you use a case on your phone, you will need the Samsung case that has the gap cutout at the bottom so your finger does not scrape the lip of a case every time you swipe.

Even if it gives me a better grip, the S20 is still an all – glass slab, so you should snag a case.

The glass is slippery when cold or put on the sofa, but the phone is so big I can’t see many using it without some sort of case or a handle.

#support    #updates    #security    #years    #Windows

Google offers about three years of security and version updates for its Pixel line, while OnePlus offers two years of software plus another year of security updates.

It provides monthly security updates for its devices but does not commit to a particularly length of support, instead listing the current support status of handsets on its security site.

Your Phone app comes pre – installed on PCs with the Windows 10 October 2018 Update or later, and is downloadable for Windows 10 April 2018 Update or later versions.

So, my guess is that either the USA variant does not support eSIMs at all, or Samsung MAY add this ability in a future software update.

As of March 2020, the Samsung website says that eSIM is supported on these phones, but they don’t clearly state if both US and non – US variants support eSIM.

#includes    #service    #condition    #payment    #Choose

Choose your payment plan : Choose the payment schedule that works best for your budget : weekly, bi – weekly ( every two weeks ), semi – monthly or monthly.

When using included charger and cable; battery life based on typical usage conditions, which may vary by factors including network, selected features, and running applications.

At Back Market, for example, you can get a refurbished unlocked Galaxy S10 in very good condition for $ 424.99, a price that includes a 12-month warranty.

This service also includes a host of other benefits, such as 30-day one – to – one exchange for functional defects, diagnostic checks, one – time exchange for in – box accessories, and more.

#Cloud    #Aura    #Red    #White    #look

Samsung is releasing an Aura Red variant of the Galaxy S20 +, alongside a Cloud White version of the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

The mirror finishes look great – there are Cosmic Grey, Cloud Blue and Cloud Pink options – but are a major fingerprint magnet.

According to Samsung, the Aura Red colourway instantly accentuates an individual’s look, and further exudes a sense of confidence, energy and passion .

At the same time, the Cloud White model adds a touch of class, and is perfect for users who prefer simplicity and a polished silhouette .

#mode    #Night    #scenes    #photos

If you do use Night mode, be sure to stay very still, or you’ll end up with lots of blurry photos.

Samsung’s dedicated night mode is good but not quite on the same level as Night Sight on the Pixel 4, taking considerably longer to take the same shots.

But there is a 108MP mode that captures a lot more detail ( not a given for these modes ), and is worth using for pretty, well – lit holiday scenes.

The multi – second exposure Night mode is much more consistent, but can’t quite handle very, very dark scenes quite as well as Huawei’s best when shooting handheld.

For example, in one 108MP image you can see brickwork largely obscured by trees; in the 12MP images, it’s simply an orangey block.

#stores    #Online    #electronics    #CNET    #Infinite

The true wireless earbuds will then be available on Samsung Online Store, and selected local telecommunication operators, major consumer electronics and IT stores.

They can be found at the Samsung Online Store, local telcos ( Singtel, StarHub, and M1 ), major consumer electronics and IT stores, Lazada, and Shopee.

Find more great buys on the CNET Deals page and check out our CNET Coupons page for the latest promo codes from Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon and more.

On 2 June 2020, pre – sales of the limited edition smartphone will be available for UOB Reserve, Privilege Banking, Visa Infinite and Visa Infinite Metal credit cardmembers and Club21 Members.

#K    #video    #stabilization    #footage    #motion

You can shoot at 8 K resolution, 4 K with software stabilization or 1080p with Super stabilization ( the Super part is optional ).

The S20 can capture 8 K video footage, but almost no one has an 8 K television, so you’re only using up more valuable storage when 4 K would suffice.

I will say, I like using 8 K mode so I can crop into the footage I ‘ve captured and still retain 4 K video quality.

It appears to use, at most, optical stabilization, and motion also causes a lot of blurred frames in the final video.

Ultra – stabilized footage has an almost GoPro – like level of judder smoothing, but the quality is reduced significantly compared to standard 4 K capture

Samsung Galaxy S20 Review

#Ultra    #phone    #zoom

Samsung knows how to build great phones, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra feels as premium as the phones that came before it.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is a great phone that ticks all the boxes and sets a new personal best for Samsung.

The Galaxy Note 10 + was already the best screen on a phone, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra elevates this to another level.

Such shooting scope also makes the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra one of the most fun – to – use phone cameras ever made.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is the most eye – catching of these, but the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra offers similarly cutting – edge elements that won’t eventually let you down.

#day    #refresh    #rate    #screen    #battery

Screen : 6.2 Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 1440x3200px resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 563ppi; 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sensing; HDR10 + support.

But we could argue a full – display screen is more meaningful than either ultra – high resolution or high refresh rate.

In the high – resolution mode, the phone lasted nearly two days, while in the high refresh rate mode, we managed to get a day and half’s worth of usage.

The switch to 60Hz revealed exactly why the 120Hz refresh rate isn’t enabled out of the box : it destroys the battery life.

Most phones have 60-Hz screens, and doubling the refresh rate means the screen can show content at 120 frames per second instead of 60, resulting in super – fluid animations and smoother – looking games.

#Night    #mode    #photos    #plant    #scenes

For example, Samsung’s Night mode can take great – looking photos, and the auto mode does a stellar job, but the phone will equally deliver photos that are not as good.

If you do use Night mode, be sure to stay very still, or you’ll end up with lots of blurry photos.

The Galaxy S20 Plus also has an improved night mode that can take respectable photos in low light conditions, but pictures can sometimes turn out to be grainy.

The multi – second exposure Night mode is much more consistent, but can’t quite handle very, very dark scenes quite as well as Huawei’s best when shooting handheld.

We ‘ve found a dozen desirable plant stand solutions to suit all types of spaces, all styles of decor and all kinds of plants.

#Snapdragon    #Qualcomm    #Oppo    #battery

With a slightly bigger battery – 4085mAH, the device boasts of a 2.96GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus AI Engine octa – core chipset.

We switched to the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra from the Oppo A5 2020, a PS180 phone that also has a 5000mAh battery.

And it has a Samsung Exynos 990 processor, although some variants of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra sold in the US use the Snapdragon 865 instead.

That said, Qualcomm revealed a vastly superior second – gen at its Snapdragon Summit in December, and it’s a shame that Samsung couldn’t include it or switch to an optical sensor.

Echoing the steps that Apple took to shore up the battery life of last year’s iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, Samsung’s 2020 Galaxy S – series devices feature significantly larger batteries than their 2019 counterparts.

#zoom    #camera    #lens

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra features a quad – lens rear camera that combines a 108-megapixel main ( wide ) lens, a 48-megapixel telephoto lens and a 12-megapixel ultra wide lens to push these capabilities even further.

Packing four sensors, a prism, and an extra – large zoom lens into the camera results in a huge camera bump.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra specifically features a quad – lens rear camera that combines a 108-megapixel main ( wide ) lens, a 48-megapixel telephoto lens and a 12-megapixel ultra wide lens to push these capabilities even further.

Samsung has thrown the kitchen sink here, with four cameras, an extra – long zoom lens and prism, 8 K video recording, a new single take mode, and a lot more.

#GB    #storage    #Rs    #RAM    #microSD

You also get 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of on – board storage plus a microSD slot.

Also, check out the stylish 7 T Pro McLaren Limited Edition in 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage at Rs 58,999.

The company also launched an update to the iPhone XR – iPhone 11 in three variants – 64 GB at Rs 64,900, 128 GB at Rs 69,900 and 256 GB at Rs 79,900.

For those who want to be even more future – proofed, there’s also a 16 GB variant with 512 GB of storage, vs. the 128 GB base storage.

Running on the latest Exynos 990 processor with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, the device is a workhorse.

#charging    #supports    #Power    #C    #mAh

Powered by the 2.84GHz Snapdragon 855 octa core processor, the device has a powerful 4000 mAh battery and an in – built Warp Charge technology that can charge the smartphone in 20 minutes.

Like the Galaxy Note 10 +, the S20 Ultra supports super – fast charging via USB Type – C of up to 45W. When it comes to wireless charging, the S20 Ultra supports Qi chargers with wattage of up to 15W.

Plus, since it is Power Delivery and uses a Type – C interface, it is pretty versatile, as far as current device charging trends go.

Power bank / Reverse wireless charging 9W; Ultra – sonic under – display fingerprint reader; NFC; FM radio ( USA & Canada only ); Stereo loudspeakers; Samsung DeX support ( desktop experience ).

#sensor    #pixels    #binning    #images

It is made for pixel binning, and takes 12-megapixel photos as standard : nine pixels on the sensor make one in the final image.

The OnePlus device is protected by 3D Corning Gorilla Glass, and has in – display fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, electronic compass, gyroscope, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and Laser sensor.

Otherwise, it uses a process called pixel binning to group adjacent pixels together so they can take in more light for a brighter shot.

The front – facing camera has a new 40MP sensor that lets you either shoot at full – res or uses pixel binning to output 10MP photos.

The ultra – wide camera is a genuine 12-megapixel sensor, but one with 1.4 micron sensor pixels for well above average native sensitivity and good dynamic range.

#G    #network    #speeds    #Verizon

I got speeds about 300Mbps on this network, or about 3x faster than T – Mobile LTE, but way slower than Verizon’s similar 5 G network.

With the Ultra, you have a phone that supports every 5 G network now, and will continue to be more useful as the networks mature.

This is all to say that 5 G speeds vary a lot depending on your carrier, the type of 5 G connection you have and your location.

Using the S20 Ultra with Verizon 5 G isn’t the full – on experience I was hoping for, far from it.

In the U.K., I ‘ve used EE’s Sub6 5 G network, which consistently delivered 200Mbps+ speeds in the entirety of a two – mile radius, with a peak of 462Mbps.

#K    #footage    #stabilization    #video    #shooting

You can shoot at 8 K resolution, 4 K with software stabilization or 1080p with Super stabilization ( the Super part is optional ).

The S20 can capture 8 K video footage, but almost no one has an 8 K television, so you’re only using up more valuable storage when 4 K would suffice.

I will say, I like using 8 K mode so I can crop into the footage I ‘ve captured and still retain 4 K video quality.

Well, we ‘ve got used to shooting at 4 K at full 60fps, so a move to 8 K isn’t unexpected.

Ultra – stabilized footage has an almost GoPro – like level of judder smoothing, but the quality is reduced significantly compared to standard 4 K capture.

#Pixel    #Pro    #quality    #Mate    #Google

Night image quality is not quite at the level of the Google Pixel 4 or Huawei Mate 30 Pro, but the issue is largely one of consistency rather than quality.

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro and P30 pro have much of this appeal too, and the latter is half the price.

Both the Google Pixel 4 and OnePlus 7 T have 90-Hz screens, which look similarly great, and both are more modestly priced.

The camera bumps on the back of last year’s Pixel 4 and iPhone 11 Pro are seeming more innocuous by the day.

Doing so does hit the battery life and lowers the resolution, but it remains a compelling enhancement that puts the S20 Ultra in line with fare like the Pixel 4 and the newly – announced Oppo Find X2 Pro.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Specifications

#Exynos    #Snapdragon    #cores    #models    #comes

G is powered by a 2GHz octa – core Samsung Exynos 990 processor that features 2 cores clocked at 2.73GHz, 2 cores clocked at 2.5GHz and 4 cores clocked at 2GHz.

We should also note that U.S.-spec models will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC ( and accompanying Snapdragon X55 5 G modem ) instead of the Exynos chip.

Inside, we find the Exynos 990 7 nm+ in the global version or the Qualcomm SM8250 Snapdragon 865 7 nm+ in the US.

Overall, the performance here remains in the realm of flagship phones but, for those keeping score, the notion that Exynos comes second place to Snapdragon continues to be true.

Under the hood, the Galaxy S20 Ultra comes equipped with the same Exynos 990 CPU found in the rest of the S20 range.

#Ultra    #display

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus includes a 6.4-inch QHD+ display and lastly, the biggest of them all, Galaxy S20 Ultra includes a massive 6.9-inch screen.

The S20 has a 6.2-inch AMOLED display, the S20 + has a 6.7-inch screen, and the S20 Ultra has a 6.9-inch display.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra gets the biggest display of the three, as it sports a 6.9-inch Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED Infinity – O Display.

Samsung’s new Galaxy S20 Ultra superphone is packed to the brim with chart – topping features, including 100x zooming, 108MP cameras, a ginormous screen and 5G.

The top of the line S20 model, meanwhile, will be the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5 G which will boast a large 6.9-inch display.

In terms of size, the S20 is expected to have a 6.2-inch screen; the S20 + will have a 6.7-inch screen, whilst the S20 + Ultra will be 6.9-inches.

#costs    #Android    #security

For comparison, the Galaxy S20 costs PS799, the Galaxy S20 + costs PS999, the Galaxy Note 10 + costs PS999 and the Galaxy Z Flip costs PS1,300; the Google Pixel 4XL costs PS829, the OnePlus 7 T Pro costs PS669 and the Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max costs PS1,149.

In 2020, Samsung is setting the scene with three tempting smartphones — the Samsung Galaxy S20, the Galaxy S20 Plus, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra runs the same version of Samsung – customised Android 10, called One UI 2, as the Galaxy Z Flip.

These are Samsung’s eleventh – generation phones — let’s look at the Galaxy S20 specs, Galaxy S20 + specs, and Galaxy S20 Ultra specs.

#G    #year

Last year, the company released five 5 G phones, selling 6.7 million versions of these devices throughout 2019, from the affordable Galaxy A90 5 G ( PS629, Samsung.com / uk ) up to the expensive, and futuristic, Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 G ( PS1,900, Samsung.com / uk ).

As it stands now, Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5 G, Galaxy S20 Plus 5 G, and Galaxy S20 5 G devices at an Unpacked event next month.

This year, Samsung has integrated 5 G across the entire product line so it doesn’t need a separate 5 G model.

Set to go down on February 11, Samsung this year is poised to introduce a number of new devices, including a brand new foldable phone dubbed the Galaxy Z Flip and a successor to last year’s Galaxy S10.

#GB    #storage    #RAM    #microSD    #card

You get 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128 GB storage, which can be expanded up to 1 TB with a MicroSD card.

You also get 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of on – board storage plus a microSD slot.

Storage : The Galaxy S20 will come with a maximum 128 GB storage, while the Galaxy S20 + and Ultra will be available in three storage configurations — 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB.

The Galaxy S20 will run Android 10, will have 12 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, and a 4000mAH battery.

The SoC is listed as a Samsung Exynos 990 paired with either 128 GB or 512 GB of storage and a microSD card supporting up to 1 TB of additional storage.

#refresh    #rate    #display

Stick to the standard resolution and you will benefit from a key upgrade on this S20 – the 120Hz refresh – rate display.

The screen’s 120Hz refresh rate is twice the standard 60Hz, and faster still than last year’s OnePlus 7 Pro and Pixel 4.

The tech in the chip will allow the new phone displays to have a 120Hz refresh rate – this means the screen will refresh 120 frames per second, which makes watching videos and gaming a whole lot more fun.

If youave used a OnePlus 7 Pro or 7 T or Razer Phone, two devices with high refresh rate displays ( 90Hz and 120Hz, respectively ), youall know how much more responsive the software feels compared to phones with lower refresh rates like the iPhone, which have 60Hz displays.

#battery    #Oppo    #means    #Pro    #Ultra

In the case of the S20 Ultra, that means that buying the biggest smartphone in the range gets you a 5000mAh battery.

Like everything else, the battery is supersized in the S20 Ultra, with a capacity of 5,000mAh, which is about 1,000mAh bigger than the one in the iPhone 11 Pro Max or OnePlus 7 T Pro, and bigger than the 4,500mAh battery in the S10 5G.

Doing so does hit the battery life and lowers the resolution, but it remains a compelling enhancement that puts the S20 Ultra in line with fare like the Pixel 4 and the newly – announced Oppo Find X2 Pro.

At the time of writing, that leaves the S20 Ultra with a larger battery than the best that the rest of the Android crowd – Google, Huawei, Oppo – can muster.

#lens    #sensor    #telephoto    #angle

The camera array includes a 12MP main camera, 64MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultra – wide camera.

The main rear camera is a 108MP sensor which is backed up by a 48MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a ToF sensor, and a 10x optical zoom camera sensor too.

According to notable phone leaker Ice Universe, there will be an ultra – wide – angle lens, a main camera lens, and a periscope zoom lens, alongside the flash and time of flight sensor.

The two phones also share the main cameras in the setup, which include a 12-megapixel ultra – wide, a 12-megapixel wide – angle lens and a 64-megapixel telephoto lens.

#charging    #battery    #USB    #C

Battery : The smallest battery pack is fitted on the Galaxy S20 which gets a 4000mAh unit with 25W charging support.

Both phones are also IP68 water / dust resistant with wireless charging, a USB – C port, and an upgraded speaker tuned by AKG.

Fully charging the S20 Ultra took 70 minutes with the included power adapter, but closer to two hours with other 30 – 45W USB – C chargers.

This device has the same basic specifications as the normal S20 — Snapdragon 865, AMOLED display, USB – C, wireless charging, IP68, Android 10, etc — but puts everything on steroids.

There’s a set of Samsung’s excellent AKG earbuds in the box, this time with a USB – C cable as there is no headphone socket.

#prices    #range    #specs    #devices

By offering lower price points, Samsung can bring more premium features down the market while keeping the kitchen sink, high – spec devices high priced.

With devices that range from 6.2 inches to 6.9 inches and differing price points and specs, it’s clear that Samsung is looking to meet multiple objectives

And by discounting its S10 smartphones by $ 150 each, Samsung is making sure it has a wide variety of devices and prices for multiple folks.

The Galaxy S range is often more affordable than the Note range but given all the improvements that appear to be coming to the Samsung S20 phones, we may see the prices hiked up as a result.

Plus, and Galaxy S20 Ultra — with a slew of upgraded camera features and specs, a wide range of prices, 5 G as a default, and perks for the enterprise.

#year    #smartphone    #pick

Few are going to pick up a luxury – grade powerhouse of a smartphone like this one and come away disappointed.

Phones tend to get more expensive with each year that passes, and that’ll probably be the case for the S20 series.

Unless you ‘ve not set hands on a smartphone for a few years, we ‘d be lying if we said you ‘d be falling off your chair with excitement at the Samsung Galaxy S20.

But we’re in the business of marginal gains, and another year has brought just enough of those to ensure the Galaxy S20 remains a great smartphone for most people, particularly if you’re in the market for a premium phone ( and certainly if you want an Android handset ).

#starts    #credit    #price    #March

Customers who preorder between Feb. 21 and March 5 will get a $ 100 Samsung credit with Galaxy S20, $ 150 credit with Galaxy S20 Plus, and $ 200 with Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Pricing for Samsung Galaxy S20 starts at $ 999.99, with the S20 Plus starting at $ 1,199.99 and S20 Ultra at $ 1,399.

The Galaxy S20 starts at $ 1,000 and the S20 Plus starts at $ 1,200, but if you pre – order between February 21 and March 5 you can get a $ 100 Samsung credit with an S20 or $ 150 Samsung credit with an S20 Plus.

With the Note 10 + having a starting price of $ 1100, Samsung’s made it evident that it’s perfectly comfortable with $ 1000 + price tags.

#Apple    #iPhone    #Google    #Huawei

Samsung’s camera system has taken a big leap forward over the last year, after lagging behind competitors from Apple, Google and Huawei.

And, it has followed Apple’s lead in giving the least expensive device in the lineup the standard branding — iPhone 11 for Apple last fall and Galaxy S20 for Samsung this year.

If you ‘ve been waiting for Samsung to deliver something that can compete with the iPhone 11 Pro, Google Pixel or Huawei’s finest, this is the phone you ‘ve been waiting for.

Echoing the steps that Apple took to shore up the battery life of last year’s iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, Samsung’s 2020 Galaxy S – series devices feature significantly larger batteries than their 2019 counterparts.

#flagship    #went    #understatement

To say that Samsung went all – out is probably an understatement, as these phones include almost every possible spec under the sun.

You donat need anyone to tell you the screens on the S20 phones look great; there hasnat been a bad Samsung display on its flagship phones in like a decade.

In terms of durability, these phones have an IP68 rating, like all of Samsung’s previous flagships, which means they can survive immersion in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes without damage.

Of all the signs that this is Samsung’s first phone with this kind of technical ambition, this proved the most revealing – or at least memorable – one.

#videos    #photos    #mode    #Single    #AI

Single Take : A one – press mode that takes photos and videos from each camera all at once and lets you pick out a portrait photo or ultra – wide shot or short video.

For example, the photos could be AI best moment, ultrawide, live focus, AI filter and smart crop, while the videos could be forward / backward, fast forward and original video.

A one – press mode that takes photos and videos from each camera all at once and lets you pick out a portrait photo or ultra – wide shot or short video.

Samsung’s camera app allows you to customise which modes are in the carousel, while the new Single Take mode that shoots videos, gifs and photos all at once is great fun.

#edges    #face    #curved

The edge – to – edge design makes the most of the minimal bezel but it doesn’t curve around the screen in the same’ Edge screen ‘manner as the Note 10.

That will hearten some users who complained that they often mistakenly brushed the curved edges of the screen and rarely used the edge features.

The most noticeable thing when you put any of the three Galaxy S20 devices in your hand is that Samsung has gently decreased the curves on the edges of the screen that were first introduced with the Galaxy S7 Edge.

Still, the curved edges gave Samsung phones the illusion of being even thinner than they already were, and so the curves were a powerful design feature.

#zoom    #image

Rear cameras : Both the Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20 + support hybrid optical zoom of up to 3X and total zoom of 30X.

The telephoto lens enables a much more powerful zoom than previous Samsung phones had, offering up to 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom.

It comes with a 108-megapixel main camera, and a 48-megapixel telephoto unit ( placed behind a folded zoom lens, up to 10x lossless zoom, 4x optical zoom ).

The Galaxy S20 Ultra is also being hyped as having 100x zoom, but the zoom is actually a digital zoom that just crops the small parts of an image and blows it up.

It uses an extremely high – resolution 108-megapixel image sensor and offers up to 100X zoom using optical and digital zoom technology.

#K    #video    #recording    #cast    #YouTube

Once recorded, those 8 K videos can also be cast to a Samsung 8 K QLED or exported to YouTube, which supports 8 K video.

To support 8 K, users will be able to upload their 8 K videos to YouTube in native resolution and cast them to Samsungas own 8 K QLED TVs.

You probably donat have an 8 K monitor or TV to appreciate 8 K video, but whatever, the S20s can record in 8K. Personally, Iam excited for this.

There’s 10x digital zoom, improved quality in low lighting conditions and 8 K video recording, which will come in handy for early adopters of 8 K TV.

There’s also the ability to find a moment in a 8 K video and turn it into a 33MP high – resolution photo.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Features

#refresh    #rate    #display    #features    #battery

The problem, however, is that the extra oomph needed to power that bump in refresh rate will eat into your phone’s battery life.

One of the coolest features added with each new Galaxy S20 model is a 120Hz display that can refresh images twice as fast as most other phones.

Every S20 model features a super – fast 120-Hz display and new camera features, and to make the most of them, you’re going to want to know how to access these new capabilities.

The most significant upgrade that the Galaxy S20 brings to the table compared to previous – generation flagships is the higher screen refresh rate.

Be it the 120Hz screen refresh rate, ultra – high – resolution cameras with 8 K video recording, 5 G connectivity, or the high – capacity batteries, Samsung is better prepared than ever to combat fierce competition from rival phones.

#rate    #refresh    #screen    #phone    #animations

Noteworthy is the refresh rate : It’s 120Hz, double the refresh rate of the S10 series and on even keel with the Razer Phone 2 and the Asus ROG Phone 2.

Most phones have 60-Hz screens, and doubling the refresh rate means the screen can show content at 120 frames per second instead of 60, resulting in super – fluid animations and smoother – looking games.

The 990 boasts LPDDR5 data rates of up to 5.5Gbps, and there’s a 120Hz refresh – rate display driver that’s meant to improve animations and reduce screen tearing.

Anecdotally, scrolling through apps and pinching – to – zoom on webpages feels smoother on high – refresh – rate phones.

The past year has seen extra – high – refresh – rate screens gain prominence, and those silky frame rates can go a long way towards making a phone subjectively feel faster.

#charging    #chargers    #hours    #devices

The phones come with 25-watt fast chargers, but they also support wireless charging, wireless reverse charging for accessories, and the Ultra has a 45-watt charger option.

Fully charging the S20 Ultra took 70 minutes with the included power adapter, but closer to two hours with other 30 – 45W USB – C chargers.

The S20 Ultra offers a 4000mAh to 5000mAh battery and a 45W fast charge, while the other two devices have 25W fast charge.

Plus, the revamped Device care section of the settings menu lets you decide when Wireless PowerShare should stop charging other devices.

In spite of high – capacity batteries, you can expect them to charge from nil to full in a litter over an hour with the bundled fast chargers.

#kit    #focusing

According to a reliable tipster, Samsung will use extra focusing hardware on the Note 20 that would make the camera kit different than what is in the S20 Ultra.

While the S20 Ultra is definitely the leader of the pack when it comes to camera capabilities, Samsung has introduced new camera features across all three devices.

The rich camera kit of the Galaxy S20 Ultra is so futureproof that it may be directly transferred to the Note 20 line.

As far as other problems go, the same autofocus issues I had on the S20 Ultra — where the camera struggles to focus on the subject — persist here, but Samsung says it’s working on a fix.

The 512 GB version of the S20 Ultra 5 G still comes with the eUFS 3.0 standard which, albeit the current fastest, won’t hold a candle to what Samsung is about to produce.

#phones    #flagship

Similar to flagship phones from Samsung over the past few years, all three Galaxy S20 series phones feature IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.

The fact that Note 20 + is most likely getting the Galaxy S20 Ultra camera should come as no surprise to anyone even remotely acquainted with Samsung’s flagship phone strategies.

Samsung introduced 5 G to the Galaxy S series last year with the Galaxy S10 5 G, but this year, it is offering 5 G cellular connectivity on all its Galaxy S20 phones.

Whether the Galaxy S20 is your first Samsung phone or an upgrade from one of the phone maker’s previous flagships, we’re here to help you get your new phone set up, with a guide to which Galaxy S20 features to enable and disable.

#zoom    #use    #angle    #telephoto

It also has a 48MP telephoto camera with 10x hybrid zoom and 100x digital zoom with its optically – stabilized periscope camera.

The quartet of cameras allows you to smoothly zoom from ultrawide angle ( 0.5x ), through the wide angle ( 1x ) and out to 4x optical zoom, then on to 10x hybrid zoom.

Both the S20 and S20 + get wide – angle, ultra – wide angle and telephoto lenses with a 2x optical zoom that can boost up to a 4x hybrid optical zoom that Samsung says uses sensor cropping to capture photos with lossless zoom.

Samsung’s calling the S20 Ultra’s zoom Space Zoom, and it says the periscopic lens delivers up to 10x optical zoom and 100x zoom overall when combined with AI – powered 10x digital zoom.

#K    #video    #processing    #Cortex    #core

This includes an 8 K video snap mode, which records video at 8 K resolution and lets you isolate and save 33MP stills from the video clip.

It’s an eight – core design comprising two unnamed powerful custom cores, two high – performance Cortex – A76 cores, and four power – efficient Cortex – A55s — an upgrade from the 980’s twin Arm Cortex – A77s and six Cortex – A55s.

The S20 can capture 8 K video footage, but almost no one has an 8 K television, so you’re only using up more valuable storage when 4 K would suffice.

It will shoot up to 8 K video, consuming upwards of 10 MB a second in the process, but stabilisation and effects are limited to 1080p.

#Snapdragon    #Exynos    #graphics    #GPU    #chipset

The GPU improvements — which are equally tangible — include between 20 % and 100 % improved graphics performance compared with the Snapdragon 855.

And on the graphics front, the chipset packs a Valhall – based Mali – G77 GPU as opposed to the Exynos 980’s Mali – G76 GPU, which Samsung claims offers a 20 % boost in graphics performance or power efficiency.

While a Snapdragon 865 + is now unlikely, the Exynos 990 models of the S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra, have been marred be slightly shorter battery life and higher chipset temperatures compared to the Snapdragon 865 models we get in the US.

In terms of specifications, the upcoming smartphones will use an Exynos 990 in some markets and a Snapdragon 865 in the majority of markets.

#GB    #storage    #RAM    #card    #capacities

For the Ultra 5 G in specific, we ‘ve heard 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB capacities all mentioned, with the larger probably tied to that model’s 16 GB RAM option.

Each phone packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, and can be outfitted with 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

The S20 + comes with up to 512 GB of storage, while the S20 Ultra can be upgraded to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of space.

Main highlighted specs include 6.2-inch QHD+ display, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB Storage, 12 + 64 + 12 MP rear, 10MP front camera, Exynos 990 SoC and 4000mah battery.

#buy    #G

But here’s the thing : If you buy a Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus or Galaxy S20 Ultra, you’re getting support for 5 G whether you use it or not.

The good news : Once 5 G becomes more reliable and widespread, you’ll be ready if you buy the Galaxy S20 + or Galaxy S20 Ultra now.

The Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20 + use 12MP cameras instead of a 108MP camera on the Galaxy S20 Ultra, but they have much larger, 1.8um pixels for better low – light images.

If you don’t need the fancy 100x zoom camera or the massive battery, you should just buy the Galaxy S20 + for $ 1,199.99 or even the $ 999.99 Galaxy S20 ( which has more limited 5 G ).

#sensor    #focusing

Galaxy Note20 + will still use 108mp HM1, but add a new sensor to assist in focusing and completely solve the focusing problem.

In terms of optics, Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 Ultra are expected to have a quad – camera setup highlighted by a 108MP main sensor that delivers 12MP photos from a 9-in-1 binning method.

The focusing information from the sensor can then be used to enhance the results from the main 108MP juggernaut, in a radical attempt to prevent the complaints about the Galaxy S20 Ultra autofocus from a close distance.

S20 Ultra is a 3D Depth Camera, a time – of – flight sensor that resolves distance based on the speed of light by measuring the time it takes for photons to pass between the sensor and a subject.

#app    #series    #Duo    #friends    #contact

To add a Duo contact, go to Contacts and pick your friend, family member or coworker and tap to send an invite.

All the Galaxy S20 models now integrate Google Duo video calls into the Contacts app, allowing you to directly video – call people in your address book.

Samsung teamed up with Google to optimize Google Duo video calls on the S20 series, the companies said — you’re able to chat with up to eight friends at a time in 1080p quality.

Samsung last year opened up the Galaxy Camera software development kit, enabling developers to make custom photography plugins and apps for the S20 series.

The request is sent by text messaging and if they accept, an extra line shows up in their contact screen for making Duo calls.

#frame    #shooting    #picture    #moon

After setting up Hyperlapse in the Camera’s More page, tap on the crescent moon icon at the top, but when shooting hold the camera steady or use a tripod.

Now, when you shoot videos the camera will lock in on an object near the frame’s middle and keep it front and center.

Using artificial intelligence, Super Steady keeps the subject roughly in the center of the frame but reduces the frame’s field of view by about one – third.

When I tried to take a picture of my dog Mabel doing something silly, I couldn’t focus on her in time to get the picture I wanted.

After shooting, head to the phone’s Gallery and pick the shot you like best, although you can see the camera’s favorite with a crown in its upper right corner.

#screen    #app    #mouse    #navigation    #tap

To pick which apps to pin, go to the S20 ‘S navigation bar at the bottom of the screen and tap the recently used apps icon ( the one with three vertical lines ).

Just use the mouse or touchpad to nudge the first app to the left side of the screen and the second app on the right side.

Samsung has enhanced DeX with more accurate mouse placement and a new split screen layout with two apps, side by side.

To turn on the phone’s Night mode photography, start at the Camera app and tap More at the bottom of the screen.

One UI 2 defaults to the traditional three – button Android navigation bar, but Android 10’s new gesture navigation system makes using the super – sized screen easier.

#scanners    #fingerprint    #Note    #display    #glass

Both the Galaxy S20 and S20 + have a Qualcomm – supplied 3D Sonic Sensor ultrasonic fingerprint sensor embedded beneath their display glass.

The display industry analyst who tipped the Note 20 + LTPO display tech, is also suggesting that Samsung may utilize Qualcomm’s latest 3D Sonic Max in – display finger scanning technology.

Last year Samsung adopted ultrasonic in – screen fingerprint scanners for the S10 and Note10, and it sure looks like the S20 will follow in those same footsteps.

The S20 Ultra has the same ultrasonic fingerprint scanner embedded underneath the screen as the S10 and Note 10 series of smartphones, but it performed slightly better in my testing.

Qualcomm also claims that its new fingerprint sensor is faster than the previous generation, but we have yet to hear by how much, and can’t wait to pit that tech against the S20 series scanners if it makes it to the Note 20 models.

#video    #mode    #Single    #stills    #shooting

It’s a new shooting mode that combines video and stills shooting into a single process, so you end up with multiple videos and multiple photographs from just the one operation.

Another new mode, called Single Take, records shorts clips and uses AI to highlight the best stills, provide suggested filters, and apply video editing effects.

It might seem gimmicky, but Single Take Mode lets you take a 10-second video of a scene and then chop it up into social – media – ready short videos, stills, and filtered images.

Samsung’s camera app allows you to customise which modes are in the carousel, while the new Single Take mode that shoots videos, gifs and photos all at once is great fun.

There’s Single Take, which takes a series of photos and videos for up to 10 seconds with all three rear cameras with just a single tap.

#Night    #mode    #colors    #settings    #Bright

Your phone comes set to Natural color balance, but if that seems too flat to you, try the Vivid screen mode’s more vibrant and saturated colors.

There’s also Ultra Bright Night, an improvement upon the Galaxy S10’s Bright Night ( a take on Google’s Night Sight and Huawei’s Night Mode ) that combines multiple shots from the primary, telephoto, or front – facing camera to enhance the quality of pictures in very dark conditions.

Samsung’s dedicated night mode is good but not quite on the same level as Night Sight on the Pixel 4, taking considerably longer to take the same shots.

If you do use Night mode, be sure to stay very still, or you’ll end up with lots of blurry photos.

#battery    #Pro    #Max    #iPhone

To put that in perspective, the Ultra is taller than the iPhone 11 Pro Max and its 6.5-inch panel, but not by much.

I paid a similar amount for my fully loaded Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max, but Samsung’s S20 Ultra has a better screen, support for 5 G when it’s available, a way bigger battery and more.

The cost seems justified to me but, no, if you have an iPhone 11 Pro Max you don’t need to upgrade to this.

#idea    #button    #Apple    #users

Samsung made the very smart idea this time to not shove Bixby in your face, but to make it a double – tap on the power button.

But Samsung consistently tries to beat Apple to the market with new ideas, whether they work or not : It started with big phablets with the first Galaxy Note in 2011.

With last year’s Galaxy S10 lineup, Samsung was still on team headphone – jack, but the Note10 brought cause for concern as Samsung forced users to go the USB – C or Bluetooth route.

Samsung’s camera system has taken a big leap forward over the last year, after lagging behind competitors from Apple, Google and Huawei.

The dedicated Bixby button was a constant annoyance for Galaxy S9 and S10 users who kept hitting it when they didn’t mean to.

#pixel    #binning    #combine    #called    #sensor

The main 108MP camera shoots 12MP photos by default, combining nine pixels on the sensor into one pixel of final image, in a process known as pixel binning.

But Samsung is using some magic behind the scenes called pixel binning that combines 9 pixels to create larger ones that are better at capturing light, which means clearer pictures.

Otherwise, it uses a process called pixel binning to group adjacent pixels together so they can take in more light for a brighter shot.

Samsung’s second generation 108MP sensor used in the Ultra is unique in that it merges the light information ( called pixel -binning ) from no less than 9 pixels into one big virtual for unprecedented amount of quality and detail.

#Pixel    #Google    #security    #updates    #OnePlus

Google offers about three years of security and version updates for its Pixel line, while OnePlus offers two years of software plus another year of security updates.

Both the Google Pixel 4 and OnePlus 7 T have 90-Hz screens, which look similarly great, and both are more modestly priced.

Google has devised a way to bring a lot of new functionality to Pixel phones outside of the yearly Android update.

It provides monthly security updates for its devices but does not commit to a particularly length of support, instead listing the current support status of handsets on its security site.

Whilst I think it’s an overall superior phone to the Pixel 4 XL, Google’s device does have some redeeming, unbeatable features.

#selfie    #portrait    #angle    #shots

The 40MP selfie camera shoots 10MP images by default, again using pixel binning, and produces some of the very best, most detailed shots I ‘ve seen on any selfie camera.

The S10 + had dual sensors that captured wide – angle selfies and ostensibly delivered better bokeh in Live Focus portraits.

As I said in the feature drop section above, Google has combined the front facing camera and face unlock tech to enhance portrait depth on selfies.

All of them benefit from Samsung’s new Smart selfie angle feature, which taps AI to detect the number of people in – frame and switch to an appropriate angle.

The 12MP ultrawide camera produces some really good shots in most lighting conditions, excellent for creating a fisheye effect close up or for capturing more of a cityscape in one shot

#fingerprint    #recognition    #presses    #increasing    #finger

After tapping on Add Fingerprint, just press firmly on the display’s active fingerprint zone near the bottom of the screen, lifting your finger when prompted.

Unlike the first iteration that only allows users to scan one fingerprint, the 3D Sonic Max offers a recognition area that is 17x larger than the previous generation, allowing for increased security via simultaneous two – finger authentication, increasing the ease of use.

When done, feel free to confirm the process worked by going back to the Fingerprints page and opening Check Added Fingerprints.

When you set up your new Galaxy S20, you’re prompted to create a pin, swipe pattern, fingerprint or facial recognition scan.

Give yourself a few minutes because it will likely take a dozen ( or more ) presses to get a full image of your fingerprint.

#Bixby    #routines    #times    #pin    #based

Much like Alexa Routines and routines on the Google Assistant, Bixby offers preset and personalized routines, such as Driving and Before Bed routines, which can be customized based on your habits.

And when you request that Bixby book a restaurant, it’ll infer the size of your party and the time based on past reservations and make recommendations based on your previous searches.

It even has options that let you pin up to three apps to stay open at all times, so you can pin games and launch right into them without loading.

The newest incarnation of Bixby has better natural language processing, faster response times, and built – in noise reduction tech that together significantly enhance its phrase and word comprehension skills.

#headphone    #C    #Type    #jack    #USB

As for the handsets ‘bottom portions, present and accounted for are a USB Type – C port, a loudspeaker ( which works in tandem with the earpiece to deliver stereo sound ), and a microphone, but not a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Making matters worse, there isn’t a Type – C – to-3.5 mm adapter in the box, so you’ll have to make do with the included Type – C AKG earphones if you have nothing on hand but analog headphones.

All you need is a USB Type – C – to – HDMI adapter; connecting it to an external display gets DeX up and running in a jiffy.

There’s a set of Samsung’s excellent AKG earbuds in the box, this time with a USB – C cable as there is no headphone socket.

#G    #network    #speeds    #LTE

I got speeds about 300Mbps on this network, or about 3x faster than T – Mobile LTE, but way slower than Verizon’s similar 5 G network.

Plus, it’s designed to work together with Samsung’s Exynos Modem 5123, which can tap into both sub-6GHz and millimeter wave 5 G networks and legacy 2 G, 3 G, and 4 G networks.

This is all to say that 5 G speeds vary a lot depending on your carrier, the type of 5 G connection you have and your location.

The smaller two might end up available as both standard LTE and 5 G variant ( probably market – dependent ), while the S20 Ultra may skip the LTE edition entirely.

Upgrading from 4 G to 5 G is a bit like upgrading from a business class seat to a first class seat.
