Here is everything you need to know about Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra before you buy

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is the newest addition to there Samsung Galaxy collection of smartphones. Here is what you should know about this new high end android based mobile phone.

Previously we talked about Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, and now we are back with Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Part 1

#Snapdragon    #Exynos    #processor    #RAM

And it has a Samsung Exynos 990 processor, although some variants of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra sold in the US use the Snapdragon 865 instead.

The recap on the specs, the Galaxy S20 Ultra features a 6.9 ” Quad HD+ display and it runs on an Exynos 990 processor with 12 GB of RAM.

Since it includes the latest Snapdragon 865 SoC ( in certain markets ) and at least 12 GB of RAM, the S20 Ultra is no slouch.

It accounts for 21 % of the total BoM, after the system – on – chip ( Snapdragon 865 or Exynos 990 ) along with the 5 G ( X55 5 G or Exynos 5 G 5123 ) baseband.

While a Snapdragon 865 + is now unlikely, the Exynos 990 models of the S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra, have been marred be slightly shorter battery life and higher chipset temperatures compared to the Snapdragon 865 models we get in the US.

#lens    #camera    #telephoto    #features    #push

The Galaxy S20 Ultra specifically features a quad – lens rear camera that combines a 108-megapixel main ( wide ) lens, a 48-megapixel telephoto lens and a 12-megapixel ultra wide lens to push these capabilities even further.

For taking pictures, the S20 Ultra comes with a quad – camera setup featuring a 108MP main camera, a 48MP telephoto unit that can push up to 100x digital zoom, a 12MP ultra – wide – angle shooter and a 3D ToF Camera.

This is made possible using a combination of the primary high – res sensor, and the 48MP ( f/3.5 ) folded telephoto lens ( also called a periscope lens ) to offer 4x optical zoom.

#refresh    #rate    #screen    #battery

But we could argue a full – display screen is more meaningful than either ultra – high resolution or high refresh rate.

Aside from the refresh rate, the S20 Ultra’s screen looks phenomenal as you ‘d expect from Samsung, with robust color reproduction, especially at the default Vivid setting.

With a huge 5,000 mAh battery, the Galaxy S20 Ultra can deliver about 12 hours of endurance when set to the default 60Hz refresh rate.

It costs more than PS1,000, PS1399 for the 512 GB version, the camera has a 100X zoom mode and the screen a 120Hz refresh rate.

These higher screen specs are dimmed as standard in favour of battery life, and even with them off the 5000mAh battery’s stamina is less mind – blowing than you might imagine

#camera    #smartphone

Commenting on Galaxy S20 Ultra camera setup, Counterpoint’s Component Practice’s Research Analyst, Shobhit Srivastava, said, The Galaxy S20 Ultra has one of the costliest camera setups in a smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra’s camera app enables you to scroll smoothly from the 0.5x ultra wide to the crazy 100x magnification.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra comes with a revolutionary high – resolution 108MP camera, which makes it one of the best photo smartphone in the world.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra also has a camera more – or – less dedicated to the background blur Live Focus mode.

But when we laid our hands on a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, its camera quickly proved to be leagues beyond any smartphone we ‘d experienced before.

#makes    #scrolling    #refresh    #display

The 120Hz refresh makes Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra’s menus scroll by more smoothly, and makes the phone seem faster, and faster to react, even if it is something of an optical illusion as response rates of the touchscreen and the display are separate entities.

The latency between your finger touching the glass and the phone responding is almost non – existent, making everything feel super fast.

Since the 120hz mode refreshes animations on the screen faster, everything just looks really fast and smooth without any jitters, like when I was scrolling through my thousands of pictures or Twitter.

#Z

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is a great phone that ticks all the boxes and sets a new personal best for Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is the most eye – catching of these, but the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra offers similarly cutting – edge elements that won’t eventually let you down.

Ultimately, despite some messiness, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is a premium phone that ticks all the boxes and sets a new personal best for Samsung in terms of technical capabilities.

Three points stand out when you start researching the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5 G, to give it the full official title.

I ‘ve knocked phones such as the Galaxy Z Flip for being expensive, because aside from unique folding screens, they have hardware that’s otherwise found in $ 600 phones.

#battery    #iPhone    #Pro    #Max

Echoing the steps that Apple took to shore up the battery life of last year’s iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, Samsung’s 2020 Galaxy S – series devices feature significantly larger batteries than their 2019 counterparts.

To Samsung’s credit, though, it was able to keep the S20 Ultra lighter than 7.97-ounce iPhone 11 Pro Max, even though the iPhone has a significantly smaller battery and a more compact camera module.

That’s a bit dimmer than the iPhone 11 Pro Max at 761 nits, and even Samsung’s cheaper Galaxy Note 10 Plus narrowly bests it, at 686 nits.

I paid a similar amount for my fully loaded Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max, but Samsung’s S20 Ultra has a better screen, support for 5 G when it’s available, a way bigger battery and more.

#year    #smartphone    #captured

As I mentioned in an editorial discussing why I switched to Samsung phones, the display is ( literally ) a huge part of the experience.

Still, I ‘d argue the S20 Ultra captured the more realistic photo here, even if it’s not necessarily the best — and that’s a massive step up from portrait mode in Samsung’s prior phones.

Samsung supplies the displays in a great number of the world’s smartphones, which is why it was so surprising to see the Galaxy S10 fall behind the competition last year when it came to the screen.

Of all the signs that this is Samsung’s first phone with this kind of technical ambition, this proved the most revealing – or at least memorable – one.

#zoom    #shot    #lens

The lens moved back and forth to zoom – in and zoom – out, just like a point – and – shoot camera.

One of the most talked – about features of the Galaxy S20 Ultra is its 10X hybrid optical zoom and 100x Space Zoom capabilities.

Incidentally, it was the perfect occasion to highlight the S20 Ultra’s certifiably insane 100X Space Zoom ( a hybrid effort from an actual lens and digital zoom ).

As you zoom in to the text, the camera struggles to maintain focus, but it is expected from a handheld shot.

We then captured the same picture from the same vantage point with the iPhone 11 Pro Max, which has only a 2x optical zoom telephoto lens, and none of the post – processing that Samsung uses to clean up digital zoom on the S20 Ultra.

#buy    #waiting    #Huawei

If you ‘ve been waiting for Samsung to deliver something that can compete with the iPhone 11 Pro, Google Pixel or Huawei’s finest, this is the phone you ‘ve been waiting for.

This is one of the most expensive phones you can buy and while it does a good job of selling itself as one of the best phones you can buy, it rarely inspired as much endorsement from me as much as it did respect.

That makes it one of the best phones money can buy if you’re looking for the most extravagant handset on the market

Still, If you ‘ve been waiting for Samsung to deliver something that can compete with the iPhone 11 Pro, Google Pixel or Huawei’s finest, this is probably the phone you ‘ve been holding out for.

#Note    #display    #kit    #Sonic    #scanning

The display industry analyst who tipped the Note 20 + LTPO display tech, is also suggesting that Samsung may utilize Qualcomm’s latest 3D Sonic Max in – display finger scanning technology.

The rich camera kit of the Galaxy S20 Ultra is so futureproof that it may be directly transferred to the Note 20 line.

According to a reliable tipster, Samsung will use extra focusing hardware on the Note 20 that would make the camera kit different than what is in the S20 Ultra.

Unlike the first iteration that only allows users to scan one fingerprint, the 3D Sonic Max offers a recognition area that is 17x larger than the previous generation, allowing for increased security via simultaneous two – finger authentication, increasing the ease of use.

#GB    #storage    #RAM    #memory    #capacities

The starting configuration includes 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, but you can upgrade to a 16GB/512 GB model for an additional $ 200 if you need more memory and capacity.

That CPU gets paired with 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, but you can order the S20 Ultra with up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for $ 1,599.

You also get 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of on – board storage plus a microSD slot

Besides the 512 GB packs, Samsung will also start producing the ultrafast eUFS 3.1 storage memory in 256 GB and even 128 GB capacities, which comes as tangential confirmation that Note 20 Plus will ship with 128 GB of basic storage, just like the S20 series.

#UI    #apps    #customize    #experience    #Good

Good Lock is a collection of apps and modules that allow you to customize many aspects of your Galaxy experience, from the lockscreen to the sound panel.

In short, almost everything in One UI is tweakable through Good Lock, making it easy to tailor the experience to your needs.

Being able to choose which icons appear in your status bar, customize your navbar, or create a custom theme for One UI are just a few of the extensive options available to you.

Google’s answer to FaceTime, this video chat app is built right into the phone dialer and contacts apps, and you can video chat with up to 8 people.

All Galaxy S20 phones come with Samsung’s new One UI 2 software, which simplifies the interface to make it easier to jump into your favorite apps, change settings and more.

#video    #K    #recording    #shot    #Super

You can shoot at 8 K resolution, 4 K with software stabilization or 1080p with Super stabilization ( the Super part is optional ).

Furthermore, for the super – smooth video takes care of Super Steady technology, while the 40 MP front camera promises perfect selfies.

Last but certainly not least, the S20 Ultra is capable of recording 8 K video at 24 fps, and you can turn moments from your clips into 33MP photos.

When engaged, Single Take records a 10-second video and snaps multiple images, giving you an entire gallery of options to choose from and share.

You hit record and move the viewfinder around, then the S20 itself will create up to 10 photos or videos based on what it sees.

#G    #network    #speeds    #LTE    #T

I got speeds about 300Mbps on this network, or about 3x faster than T – Mobile LTE, but way slower than Verizon’s similar 5 G network.

Sprint’s midband network delivers slightly faster speeds than T – Mobile and Verizon, but it’s not nearly as fast at Verizon’s 5 G network.

Verizon’s 5 G network is built on mmWave and available in more than 30 cities, while T – Mobile and AT&T both offer low – band networks.

the regular Galaxy S20 on AT&T, Sprint and T – Mobile only runs on low – band LTE, which is more widespread than faster mmWave 5 G, but only slightly speedier than the LTE you ‘ve been using for the last several years.

While our review unit was often connected to T – Mobile’s 5 G network, we didn’t find it to be all that fast in initial testing, as the phone never pulled down more than 4 Mbps in midtown Manhattan.

#pixels    #sensor    #image    #binning

It is made for pixel binning, and takes 12-megapixel photos as standard : nine pixels on the sensor make one in the final image.

The ultra – wide camera is a genuine 12-megapixel sensor, but one with 1.4 micron sensor pixels for well above average native sensitivity and good dynamic range.

Samsung’s second generation 108MP sensor used in the Ultra is unique in that it merges the light information ( called pixel -binning ) from no less than 9 pixels into one big virtual for unprecedented amount of quality and detail.

The larger sensor size of 1/1.33-inch and pixel size of 0.8 mm allows it to capture more light and deliver brighter images in low – light.

The bad part, however, is that Samsung’s acclaimed Dual Pixel autofocus system that tags two opposite photodiodes to each and every pixel in a sensor for extremely fast and accurate focusing, has not been used with pixel – binning so far.

#iPhone    #Max    #Pro    #Apple

But then, in other circumstances, the Night Mode shots produced by the Galaxy S20 Ultra compare more favorably to those we took with the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

The S20 Ultra covered 231.1 % of the sRGB color space according to our light meter, which far exceeds the iPhone 11 Pro Max’s 118.6 %.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max’s portrait is clearly a little sharper, owing to Apple’s Deep Fusion processing technique, which is designed to extract exceptional detail in medium – light conditions.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max’s attempt is also extremely grainy and too warm, with a greenish, sepia – like cast that wasn’t true to the day’s actual conditions.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max delivered a comparatively softer and warmer take, that slightly blew out the neon signs and didn’t paint the edges of objects and text quite as crisply.

#photos    #Mike    #night    #took    #difference

The difference, as you can plainly see, is night and day — like the difference between an impressionistic painting and an actual photograph.

I took these photos after – midnight, and the quality of photos clearly show the kind of development that went into making this possible.

We took a couple of portrait photos of Mike again, and the S20 Ultra’s image was in focus this time, but still lacking precision.

This photo of a tree at night taken with the S20 Ultra is highly detailed and well lit, though there is a slight yellowish cast to the shot.

#G    #need    #carrier    #use

You sort of just have it as a comfort to either use if you stumble across a 5 G network, or for when there’s a real need to use 5 G in a couple of years.

And remember : You might not even live in a market with any 5 G yet, so check your carrier’s website for 5 G maps before you buy this phone for that reason alone.

This is all to say that 5 G speeds vary a lot depending on your carrier, the type of 5 G connection you have and your location.

And back to 5 G : Sure, it’s nice to have right now, but you probably don’t need it just yet.

And I ‘m glad that this phone has 5 G to future – proof your investment, provided you can get coverage where you are.

#picture    #time    #dog    #Mabel    #idea

When I tried to take a picture of my dog Mabel doing something silly, I couldn’t focus on her in time to get the picture I wanted.

I used it playing with my dog Mabel in the park, when I didn’t know if I wanted to take a picture or a video.

To demonstrate the idea, I ‘ve taken it upon myself to select five ( 5 ) frames of a pretty LOL – worthy moment where we thought a real – life champagne shower was a good idea.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Specifications Part 2

#Snapdragon    #cores    #processor    #Exynos    #Qualcomm

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is powered by a 2GHz octa – core Samsung Exynos 990 processor that features 2 cores clocked at 2.73GHz, 2 cores clocked at 2.5GHz and 4 cores clocked at 2GHz.

The Snapdragon 865 processor from Qualcomm is used in the phones that are sold in markets like the US and China.

Galaxy phones have been fast enough since the Snapdragon 820 processor in the Galaxy S7, but the Snapdragon 865 in the S20 line is on another level.

Monitoring the performance of the device is SamsungAC / AAs Exynos 9 Octa 990 chipset sitting over an octa – core processor clocking at a speed of 2.73GHz to ensure excellent performance.

It also has an Infinity – O display with a 40-megapixel selfie camera dead center, running Android 10 with Samsung’s One User Interface 2, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor.

#display

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra flagship smartphone comprises of a bezel – less display of 6.9 inch ( 17.53 cm ).

At 222 grams, it’s significantly heavier than S20 + ( 188 g ) and the S10 5 G ( 198 g ).

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra measures 166.90 x 76.00 x 8.80 mm ( height x width x thickness ) and weighs 220.00 grams.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra sports Samsung’s first – ever 120Hz AMOLED display, and this one’s a whopper, measuring 6.9 inches from corner to corner.

Samsung’s new Galaxy S20 Ultra superphone is packed to the brim with chart – topping features, including 100x zooming, 108MP cameras, a ginormous screen and 5G.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is an almost a parody of the excesses of smartphone design, from its ginormous 6.9-inch display to its 108MP camera and 100x zoom.

#zoom    #lens    #telephoto    #angle

It also has a 48MP telephoto camera with 10x hybrid zoom and 100x digital zoom with its optically – stabilized periscope camera.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra sports a triple camera setup which includes a 108MP primary camera backed by one 48MP telephoto camera and one 12MP wide – angle camera.

The quartet of cameras allows you to smoothly zoom from ultrawide angle ( 0.5x ), through the wide angle ( 1x ) and out to 4x optical zoom, then on to 10x hybrid zoom.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra specifically features a quad – lens rear camera that combines a 108-megapixel main ( wide ) lens, a 48-megapixel telephoto lens and a 12-megapixel ultra wide lens to push these capabilities even further.

#charging    #chargers    #supports

Reverse wireless charging is extremely helpful in charging your Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Buds when they run out of juice and you don’t have a charger handy.

Like the Galaxy Note 10 +, the S20 Ultra supports super – fast charging via USB Type – C of up to 45W. When it comes to wireless charging, the S20 Ultra supports Qi chargers with wattage of up to 15W.

When it’s time to juice back up, the Galaxy S20 Ultra supports wired 25-watt charging with the stock adapter of the box, as well as Samsung’s 15-watt Fast Wireless Charging 2.0

In spite of high – capacity batteries, you can expect them to charge from nil to full in a litter over an hour with the bundled fast chargers.

#smartphones    #costs

For comparison, the Galaxy S20 costs PS799, the Galaxy S20 + costs PS999, the Galaxy Note 10 + costs PS999 and the Galaxy Z Flip costs PS1,300; the Google Pixel 4XL costs PS829, the OnePlus 7 T Pro costs PS669 and the Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max costs PS1,149.

In some ways, the Galaxy S20 Ultra looks a lot like Samsung phones that have preceded it — namely, the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is a great phone that ticks all the boxes and sets a new personal best for Samsung.

Samsung introduced 5 G to the Galaxy S series last year with the Galaxy S10 5 G, but this year, it is offering 5 G cellular connectivity on all its Galaxy S20 phones.

#days    #starting    #device

While the S20 Ultra is a capable device, it won’t knock your socks off the way a $ 1,400 phone should.

For now, you can reserve the device on samsung.com and can preorder the S20 Ultra starting at $ 1,399 beginning on February 21.

On more casual days, things cruised close enough to 50 % that I wasn’t too worried about forgetting to charge the S20 ultra overnight and skating through to the next day.

Even if our review model didn’t start at $ 1,400, a price high enough to make Apple blush, the Galaxy S20 Ultra would still be far too much phone for most people.

#shots    #focus    #capturing

The 12MP ultrawide camera produces some really good shots in most lighting conditions, excellent for creating a fisheye effect close up or for capturing more of a cityscape in one shot.

Overall, the S20 Ultra truly shines when capturing zoom shots froma distance, but in other scenarios — like at night, or when capturing a shallow depth – of – field Live Focus portrait — the results can be mixed.

The 40MP selfie camera shoots 10MP images by default, again using pixel binning, and produces some of the very best, most detailed shots I ‘ve seen on any selfie camera

The camera can also shoot full 108MP shots, but I found that most of the time the 12MP mode produced better images.

#Note    #screen    #weight    #hands

It was hard enough to use the 6.8-inch display on the Note 10 +, but the S20 Ultra’s 6.9-inch screen, coupled with the weight and near-9 mm thickness, is simply too much for one hand to bear.

You might remember when 7-inch tablets were a thing, and now phones have almost caught up with the S20 Ultra’s 6.9-inch screen.

I don’t usually spend much time thinking about the weight of my phone, but it’s hard to ignore the S20 Ultra’s mass.

That’s larger than even the largest of last year’s Note devices – though when held in your hands, it comes across as noticeably slimmer in terms of physical width.

It’s hard to see without putting it next to a Note 10 or S10, but the S20 screen is decidedly flatter than those of previous generations ( though definitely more curved than the S10e’s ).

#refresh    #rate    #screen    #resolution

the screen’s 120Hz refresh rate is twice the standard 60Hz, and faster still than last year’s OnePlus 7 Pro and Pixel 4.

With a huge 5,000 mAh battery, the Galaxy S20 Ultra can deliver about 12 hours of endurance when set to the default 60Hz refresh rate.

The most significant upgrade that the Galaxy S20 brings to the table compared to previous – generation flagships is the higher screen refresh rate

Aside from the refresh rate, the S20 Ultra’s screen looks phenomenal as you ‘d expect from Samsung, with robust color reproduction, especially at the default Vivid setting.

Battery again A device with a 5,000mAh battery should be able to run longer than the S20 Ultra, but 5 G and the 120Hz screen keep it from being great.

#bump    #curved    #edge    #protruding

the S20 Ultra has a tiny curve at the very edge — it’s more like a 2.5D glass cover than a curved display.

The edges are curved, the display goes right up to the edge of the device and nearly kisses the metal frame, and there’s an Infinity – O hole punch camera cutout up top, smack dab in the center.

While giant geometrical camera arrays are all the rage, the S20 Ultra takes it to almost comical proportions, with a bump that protrudes some three millimeters from the back.

The giant camera bump also makes it tricky to use on a table, especially when tapping the upper left side of the screen

And the giant rectangular camera array on the rear dominates the back of the device, aggressively protruding from an otherwise unremarkable slab of gray glass.

#GB    #RAM    #storage    #card    #packed

The S20 Ultra is packed with either 128 GB of storage and 12 GB of RAM, or 512 GB of storage and 16 GB of RAM

That CPU gets paired with 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, but you can order the S20 Ultra with up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for $ 1,599.

You also get 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of on – board storage plus a microSD slot.

If High detail requires 4 GB of RAM and your GPU can only run things at Low, which requires 2 GB, then putting 4 GB of RAM on the card is useless.

The starting configuration includes 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, but you can upgrade to a 16GB/512 GB model for an additional $ 200 if you need more memory and capacity.

#iPhone    #Pro    #Max    #nits

That’s a bit dimmer than the iPhone 11 Pro Max at 761 nits, and even Samsung’s cheaper Galaxy Note 10 Plus narrowly bests it, at 686 nits.

Like everything else, the battery is supersized in the S20 Ultra, with a capacity of 5,000mAh, which is about 1,000mAh bigger than the one in the iPhone 11 Pro Max or OnePlus 7 T Pro, and bigger than the 4,500mAh battery in the S10 5G

#pixel    #binning    #sensor    #called    #combines

The main 108MP camera shoots 12MP photos by default, combining nine pixels on the sensor into one pixel of final image, in a process known as pixel binning.

But Samsung is using some magic behind the scenes called pixel binning that combines 9 pixels to create larger ones that are better at capturing light, which means clearer pictures.

Samsung’s second generation 108MP sensor used in the Ultra is unique in that it merges the light information ( called pixel -binning ) from no less than 9 pixels into one big virtual for unprecedented amount of quality and detail.

The bad part, however, is that Samsung’s acclaimed Dual Pixel autofocus system that tags two opposite photodiodes to each and every pixel in a sensor for extremely fast and accurate focusing, has not been used with pixel – binning so far.

#fingerprint    #glass    #sensor

All said, it’s the first phone I wanted to put in a case, which is a shame, because the glass repels fingerprints surprisingly well.

And no matter which shade you buy, this phone is also a serious magnet for fingerprints; perhaps Samsung should have offered a matte glass option, too.

While a thousand – dollar – plus phone should really have 3D facial recognition, this implementation of the fingerprint sensor is much improved over what we had with the S10.

Again, I like these big and huge glass and metal phones that last all day and include everything I could possibly want.

The S20 Ultra is the only phone I ‘ve used that I could actually feel sliding down my hand as I held it

#network    #speeds    #Mobile    #LTE

I got speeds about 300Mbps on this network, or about 3x faster than T – Mobile LTE, but way slower than Verizon’s similar 5 G network.

Sprint’s midband network delivers slightly faster speeds than T – Mobile and Verizon, but it’s not nearly as fast at Verizon’s 5 G network.

Verizon’s 5 G network is built on mmWave and available in more than 30 cities, while T – Mobile and AT&T both offer low – band networks

The regular Galaxy S20 on AT&T, Sprint and T – Mobile only runs on low – band LTE, which is more widespread than faster mmWave 5 G, but only slightly speedier than the LTE you ‘ve been using for the last several years.

If you walk just a half – block away, you’ll lose the signal and fall back to a slower 4 G network

#video    #recording    #K    #photos    #Single

There’s Single Take, which takes a series of photos and videos for up to 10 seconds with all three rear cameras with just a single tap.

Last but certainly not least, the S20 Ultra is capable of recording 8 K video at 24 fps, and you can turn moments from your clips into 33MP photos.

It can even record ultra – smooth, 4 K 60fps videos, making it to the list of limited phones that can achieve this feat.

You hit record and move the viewfinder around, then the S20 itself will create up to 10 photos or videos based on what it sees.

When engaged, Single Take records a 10-second video and snaps multiple images, giving you an entire gallery of options to choose from and share.

#need    #use    #carrier    #lot

This is all to say that 5 G speeds vary a lot depending on your carrier, the type of 5 G connection you have and your location.

While 5 G is of limited usefulness for most people, this phone will work on all the existing 5 G networks.

You sort of just have it as a comfort to either use if you stumble across a 5 G network, or for when there’s a real need to use 5 G in a couple of years

And back to 5 G : Sure, it’s nice to have right now, but you probably don’t need it just yet.

And remember : You might not even live in a market with any 5 G yet, so check your carrier’s website for 5 G maps before you buy this phone for that reason alone

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Features Part 3

#Galaxy    #Samsung

In some ways, the Galaxy S20 Ultra looks a lot like Samsung phones that have preceded it — namely, the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10.

The four – sensor rear camera setup of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is one of the best phone cameras we ‘ve ever tested.

Compared to the Galaxy S20 Ultra, the Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 + both have main image sensors and selfie cameras with slightly lower resolution and lesser zoom capabilities ( though still incredible by other phones ‘standards ).

Nearly 10 years after the first Galaxy S burst onto the scene, Samsung has launched another set of phones that are breaking the mold once again.

In addition to all these rear camera features, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra also cares about the front – facing camera.

#photos    #snap    #smartphone    #selfie    #hardware

In general, it’s possible to get really good photos in manual mode from the S20 Ultra, but the reality is very few people actually do this with their smartphone; they just point and snap a photo.

This means the average Ultra user likely will never snap a selfie that doesn’t feature aggressive skin smoothing, and that the resulting images don’t look much better than what the S10 is capable of shooting despite the S20’s selfie camera hardware improvements

Even with all this new camera hardware under the hood, Samsung is still processing photos in nearly the same way it always has.

Still, you can snap some really great – looking photos anywhere between 1X to 10X on the S20 or S20 Plus, and that alone is a feat only a few phones can claim.

#GB    #RAM    #Snapdragon    #Exynos    #storage

The Galaxy S20 Ultra features a Snapdragon 865 processor, 12 GB of RAM and either 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB of storage.

Main highlighted specs include 6.9-inch QHD+ display, up to 16 GB RAM, 512 GB Storage, 108 + 48 + 12 + 0.3 MP rear, 40 MP front camera, Exynos 990 SoC and 5000mah battery.

The starting configuration includes 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, but you can upgrade to a 16GB/512 GB model for an additional $ 200 if you need more memory and capacity.

Coupled with at least 12 GB of RAM ( the phone is available with up to 16 GB of RAM ), the chipset is as powerful as it is future proof.

#images    #picture    #video    #Single    #capture

There’s also a new feature called ‘Single Take’ that captures several images and videos simultaneously that Jon discusses at length in his review of the Galaxy S20.

Available on all Galaxy S20 versions, this AI – powered feature will capture a selection of excellent still images and video clips simultaneously.

Unruly 5-month – old puppies – Kobe & Harleigh – captured in a microsecond of stillness by the Single Take AI.

Use Single Take for moving subjects : If you’re looking at something interesting that’s moving around, like a street performer or perhaps your dog, Single Take can grab a range of images and video for you.

These let you snap a picture of a big scene, like a landscape, and let you crop in to the image and still get a clean picture of something that might be far away.

#zoom    #camera    #image

For taking pictures, the S20 Ultra comes with a quad – camera setup featuring a 108MP main camera, a 48MP telephoto unit that can push up to 100x digital zoom, a 12MP ultra – wide – angle shooter and a 3D ToF Camera.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra’s camera system has a lot going for it, including a 108MP sensor that captures highly detailed images, a 10x lossless zoom and up to a 100x digital Space Zoom.

In fact, Live Focus looks so fake I prefer the bokeh you get from snapping a normal image with the Ultra’s camera.

With the S20 and S20 Plus, you’re able to get 30x zoom out of the rear camera, but with the Ultra, Samsung has bumped the zoom up to an impressive 100x through a combination of optical zoom and digital.

#battery    #refresh    #rate    #usage

This will show you the predicted battery usage based on your 7-day averages, and tapping the battery usage will show you what’s using up that battery.

Look at your battery usage history : On the battery usage page detailed above, you can tap through the graph to see what your usage was on the last 7 days.

With a huge 5,000 mAh battery, the Galaxy S20 Ultra can deliver about 12 hours of endurance when set to the default 60Hz refresh rate.

Some argue that having a 120Hz refresh rate is pointless on a phone, and there isn’t a right or wrong opinion on that. 9

Such a high refresh rate means that the onscreen experience of the Galaxy S20 Ultra is enjoyably smooth, even if you’re just refreshing your email.

#Samsung    #Bixby    #Android    #home    #devices

Access Samsung Daily from the home screen : To the left of the home screen, Samsung now has something called Samsung Daily, which replaces Bixby Home.

This is a standard Android feature and you have the option to nominate trusted devices, so your Android will unlock when connected to something else.

The devices option covers direct connections as well as SmartThings, so if you’re a smart home user then this is a way to get directly to those devices.

Samsung has reconfigured the side key on the S20, so a long press will launch Bixby by default, rather than power off the device like ( almost ) every other phone on the planet.

Install Alexa and that becomes an option – although Samsung will also let you access Finder and Samsung Internet too via the same route.

#G    #network    #speeds    #LTE    #carrier

I got speeds about 300Mbps on this network, or about 3x faster than T – Mobile LTE, but way slower than Verizon’s similar 5 G network.

This is all to say that 5 G speeds vary a lot depending on your carrier, the type of 5 G connection you have and your location.

As for 5 G, carriers are still building out the network, so you can’t get connectivity anywhere except for pockets of coverage in certain cities. 1

The Galaxy S20 Ultra packs a 5 G modem that allows it to connect to both long – range sub-6GHz and millimeter – wave networks on any major U.S. carrier.

If you walk just a half – block away, you’ll lose the signal and fall back to a slower 4 G network.

#charging    #water    #OnePlus    #T    #supports

Dip down to other high – end Android phones and you’ll start having to deal with compromises, like how the OnePlus 7 T isn’t protected against water damage and doesn’t support wireless charging, or how the Pixel 4 has subpar battery life.

Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery which supports 45W fast charging via USB – C. Like the rest of the S20 series, it also supports wireless charging and has IP68 dust and water resistance.

Both the Google Pixel 4 and OnePlus 7 T have 90-Hz screens, which look similarly great, and both are more modestly priced.

While the Pixel 4 and OnePlus 7 T include 90Hz displays, only the Razer Phone, Razer Phone 2 and the Asus ROG Phone 2 hit 120Hz.

#iPhone    #Pro    #Max    #G

But then, in other circumstances, the Night Mode shots produced by the Galaxy S20 Ultra compare more favorably to those we took with the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

To Samsung’s credit, though, it was able to keep the S20 Ultra lighter than 7.97-ounce iPhone 11 Pro Max, even though the iPhone has a significantly smaller battery and a more compact camera module.

I paid a similar amount for my fully loaded Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max, but Samsung’s S20 Ultra has a better screen, support for 5 G when it’s available, a way bigger battery and more.

For example, when trying to hone in on a miniature arcade machine up close, the S20 Ultra definitely takes longer to get its bearings than the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

#video    #K    #capture    #footage    #pixels

With a resolution of 7,720 by 4,320 pixels, the futureproof footage has four times as many pixels as 4 K clips.

The S20 can capture 8 K video footage, but almost no one has an 8 K television, so you’re only using up more valuable storage when 4 K would suffice.

Turn on 8 K video capture : If you want to capture video in the highest resolution, head into the video mode and tap the aspect ratio icon – you’ll see the option for 16:9 8K.

I will say, I like using 8 K mode so I can crop into the footage I ‘ve captured and still retain 4 K video quality.

Given 4 K televisions and video still aren’t prevalent in Canada, the fact that the S20 Ultra is capable of shooting 8 K video doesn’t really mean much.

#mode    #photos    #uses    #scene    #night

Use scene optimiser to improve your photos : The new scene optimiser uses AI to improve your photos, as well as allowing longer handheld night photos.

Use night mode for better low light shots : Samsung has improved the low light shooting both in the normal camera and with a night mode.

If you do use Night mode, be sure to stay very still, or you’ll end up with lots of blurry photos.

Turn on dark mode across your device : There’s some evidence that using dark mode lowers the power the phone needs to illuminate all those white background.

This can ring true in the daytime with the main camera too, so make sure to turn off Scene Optimizer, which uses artificial intelligence to tweak photos to what it thinks people will like.

#apps    #screen    #home    #Galaxy

Head into the home screen settings ( long press on the wallpaper ) and you’ll find the option to add apps to home screen .

As above, go into the home screen settings, and you’ll see the option for apps screen grid , with up to 5×6.

Allow your home page to work in landscape : This option will allow the home screen and apps tray, settings, etc, to display in landscape.

It’s off by default, but you can turn it on in settings > home screen settings > rotate to landscape mode.

Edit your home screen : A long press on the wallpaper on any home screen lets you edit the wallpaper, themes, widgets, pages or further settings.

Disable / enable lock screen notifications : If you don’t want notifications on your lock screen, head to settings > lock screen > notifications.

#voice    #Bixby    #Assistant    #Google    #Alexa

Change your digital assistant to Alexa or Bixby Voice : If you ‘d rather launch Alexa on the home button, install the Alexa app and then, as above, switch the default device assistance app to Alexa – or Bixby Voice if you ‘d rather.

Disable Google Assistant / all assistants : If you don’t want Google Assistant on that home button shortcut, you can remove the ability to launch it there.

This will bring up the Bixby Voice settings – tap voice wake – up and you’ll be able to get control with your voice.

The AI assistant can do a range of things, but it’s basically broken down into Bixby Voice ( with its own screen ) and Bixby Vision.

#notifications    #vibration    #sound    #icon

Head into settings > sounds and vibration > vibration intensity and you can change the vibration levels for calls, notifications and touch.

In settings > sound and vibration > do not disturb > hide notifications you’ll find options to allow or stop notifications.

Head into settings > sounds and vibration > sound quality and effects and you’ll see adapt sound down that the bottom.

Enable and control Dolby Atmos : This can be toggled on in quick settings, or head into settings > sounds and vibration > sound quality and effects.

Head into settings > notifications > app icon badges and you’ll find this option at the bottom of the page under notifications on app icons .

Allow notifications in do not disturb : While sounds and vibrations are silenced in do not disturb, you can still have silent notifications.

#modes    #camera    #switch    #files    #swipe

Switch camera modes : The camera does loads and you can swipe through modes from photo, swiping through the modes that you’ll see to the right or to the bottom.

Quickly switch from rear to front camera : There’s a button to switch between front and rear cameras, but you can also do it with a swipe.

To use it you’ll need to be in Pro mode, however, so if you want raw files, turn it on and shoot in Pro – you also can’t switch to 108MP in this mode, so you can’t get that huge raw file.

Edit the available camera modes : You don’t have to stick to the default options above – you can add or remove modes that you find more useful.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Review Part 4

#Note    #Ultra    #details

With its camera hardware upgrade, the Galaxy S20 Ultra captures slightly better photos than the Galaxy Note 10 +’s ultrawide camera, with a bump in details.

Below : color aside, the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s ultrawide camera seems equivalent to the Galaxy Note 10’s ultrawide camera when it comes to the general level of details.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra ultrawide camera does bring incremental improvements over the Galaxy Note 10 to reinforce Samsung’s position in that space.

Below, the Galaxy S20 Ultra also uses a lot more image filtering than the Galaxy Note 10, and not always with a better outcome.

Compared to the Galaxy S20 Ultra, the Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 + both have main image sensors and selfie cameras with slightly lower resolution and lesser zoom capabilities ( though still incredible by other phones ‘standards ).

#zoom    #use    #viewfinder

Taken as a whole, the S20 Ultra’s photos are instantly shareable up to 10x zoom, and the standard camera takes bright, dynamic, and colorful photos.

Versatility is what you want in a camera, and the varying degrees of zoom you can use, from the ultrawide all the way to 10X, is what makes this camera so much fun to use.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra’s camera app provides quick access to wide – angle, standard, and 5x zoom control in the viewfinder, but requires you to select 10x through a supplementary menu.

It’s not in the most intuitive place, but you can toggle on a special 64-MP mode that forces the camera to utilize all 64 megapixels on the zoom lens.

#Ultra    #series

In the new Galaxy S20 series, screens are no longer curved on the sides, as in Galaxy S9, Galaxy S10 or Galaxy Note10.

Galaxy S20 Ultra 5 G screen continues the great traditions that began with the displays of Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note10 smartphones.

But with the Galaxy S20 Ultra camera, Samsung is stepping into that arena with a massive upgrade from the S10 series.

Headlining the launch is the Galaxy s20 Ultra, a big – screen phone with a game – changing camera and a dazzling display.

Galaxy S20 Ultra 5 G is Samsung’s first flagship in a long time which positively surprised me with its battery life.

This is not my wishlist, but the specifications of Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5 G, which I will discuss in detail in this review.

#smartphone    #address    #impressions

More testing will follow in due course, but first impressions are that Samsung has really attempted to address some of the concerns people often have with smartphone photography.

Samsung smartphones have always been one of the best camera phones on the market, and Galaxy S20 Ultra is no different in this regard.

I already talked a little about my first impressions of this amazing smartphone, and today the time has come for a more detailed review.

Samsung’s video editor makes this easy to do, but the technique is something only a small segment of the phone’s audience might utilize.

But when we laid our hands on a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, its camera quickly proved to be leagues beyond any smartphone we ‘d experienced before.

#charging    #support    #battery    #W    #minutes

Galaxy S20 Ultra 5 G also supports fast induction charging ( 15 W ) and reverse wireless charging for other devices.

Wi – Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, an insane 5,000mAh battery, and support for 45W power delivery if you buy the extra adapter, 15W wireless charging, and 9W wireless power share, which is even faster than what iPhones are able to support.

Charging the battery with the supplied charger ( 25 W, one smartphone up to 45 W ) is pleasant – in 30 minutes we will replenish 30 percent of the energy, and charging from zero to 100 percent will take about an hour.

For comparison, iPhone 11 Pro Max received a result of 17 hours 20 minutes in the web browsing test, and our current leader Xiaomi Mi Note 10 – 18 hours 26 minutes.

#zoom    #tested    #Space

This test shows photos taken at wide – angle, standard, 5x, 10x, 50x, and in the case of the Galaxy S20 Ultra, 100x zoom.

Poor – quality zoom is a big issue for many smartphone photographers, and in our initial tests Samsung’s new Space Zoom functionality appears to produce clean images when zoomed in.

We’ll compare the zoom of the Samsung Galaxy S20 with the Huawei P30 Pro, which was the best zoom camera we had tested.

Samsung recently went all – in on the zoom feature with the Galaxy S20 Ultra, which is capable of taking photos at up to 100x zoom.

The first preset zoom setting in both apps takes the camera to 5x optical zoom, meaning it uses the periscope zoom lens and software tweaks to create the photo.

#sensor    #size    #megapixel    #light

Its camera has a huge sensor, which is equivalent in size to the Primary camera sensor of that same phone, and the image quality is top – notch.

You’ll know that sensors can only be a certain size on a device as slim as a phone : too big a sensor and the light won’t cover it all unless the lenses were a lot further away.

Let me put this to you in perspective : The 108 megapixel primary camera sensor is second only to the 1-inch sensor on the legendary Lumia 1020.

The sensor on the 48 megapixel telephoto is larger than the primary die on game changers like the Huawei P30 Pro.

When the lighting conditions are not great, the S20 Ultra will automatically capture 12 MP images, which combine nine of its main sensor’s pixels into one.

#system    #score    #sensor    #depth

The quad camera array on the rear of the S20 Ultra comprises a 12-megapixel ultra – wide camera, 108-megapixel wide – angle camera, 48-megapixel telephoto camera and a depth vision camera.

A note about the Uber – G Camera IQ benchmark : our camera scoring system is based on four Pillars or sub – scores that provide much – needed nuance : day, night, zoom and ultrawide photography.

Huawei P40 Pro : 50-megapixel f/1.9 Ultra Vision sensor, 40-megapixel f/1.8 Ultra – wide Cine Camera, and 12-megapixel f/3.4 SuperSensing telephoto camera.

The S20 Ultra becomes the market’s Ultimate Camera , according to our Uber – G Camera IQ score, and that’s a well – deserved win for a camera system that wins three out of four of Ubergizmo’s Camera Pillars : Day, Night and Zoom photography.

#refresh    #rate    #animations    #scrolling

Most phones have 60-Hz screens, and doubling the refresh rate means the screen can show content at 120 frames per second instead of 60, resulting in super – fluid animations and smoother – looking games.

Since the 120hz mode refreshes animations on the screen faster, everything just looks really fast and smooth without any jitters, like when I was scrolling through my thousands of pictures or Twitter.

This time around, in addition to the mandatory high – resolution, vibrant colors, and HDR10 + compatibility, the screen has an industry – leading maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz.

Such a high refresh rate means that the onscreen experience of the Galaxy S20 Ultra is enjoyably smooth, even if you’re just refreshing your email.

#smartphones    #features    #time

Quick Share features have also been improved, which allows you to send large files ( via Wi – Fi Direct ) to other Samsung phones.

Night mode, an increasingly sophisticated feature on smartphones, which shot to maturity with the iPhone 11 last September, is very good on this phone and invoked automatically.

Also, Samsung has pretty wild trade – in deals, offering up to $ 700 if you trade in the Galaxy Note 10 + that launched last year, and Samsung says it’ll honor that for the foreseeable future.

This is sort of like the times of the Lumia 1020, which was a phone so ahead of its time, that it’s still hard to find a match for it today in certain ways.

#speakers    #headphones    #pair    #sound    #stereo

Everything is fine with the sound too – stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and AKG headphones come with the phone.

Also interesting is the Music Share function, which will allow your friends to play music on wireless speakers through a paired smartphone without pairing directly with the speaker.

I note that Galaxy S20 Ultra 5 G has stereo audio, the second sound source is located in the earpiece speaker above the screen.

The missing headphone jack is the only thing that feels out of place; it’s the first Galaxy S phone without one, though I ‘ve converted to wireless headphones, so it hasn’t affected me much.

#iPhone

At the same time, the Galaxy S20 Ultra and the iPhone 11 Pro do a better job of capturing color hues that are closer to the original scene.

Both phones would need a ~15 % color saturation boost to get as close to the original scene as possible, but that’s a very easy edit on the phone.

I still think Google’s Pixel 4 and Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro perform better in low – light scenes, as Samsung’s mode can often aggressively erase all shadows and exaggerate colors.

In any case, the noise on the iPhone Pro 11 is very noticeable, and the colors are much more muted than they should be.

However, the iPhone 11 Pro photo is much noisier than the Galaxy S20 Ultra ‘s, and a lot of details is lost as well : part of the wires disappear, and even the word Street has become unreadable on the iPhone 11 Pro.

#K    #video    #footage    #HD    #record

The Galaxy S20 Ultra also adds 8 K video recording at 30fps from the 108MP camera, as well as 4 K, Full HD and HD.

The S20 can capture 8 K video footage, but almost no one has an 8 K television, so you’re only using up more valuable storage when 4 K would suffice. 3

I will say, I like using 8 K mode so I can crop into the footage I ‘ve captured and still retain 4 K video quality.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is the first smartphone in the world to record video with a resolution of up to 8 K at 24 fps

Well, we ‘ve got used to shooting at 4 K at full 60fps, so a move to 8 K isn’t unexpected.

#mm    #length    #optics    #Mate    #Huawei

The S20 Ultra comes with a new long – zoom ( 80mm+ ) with a 35mm – equivalent focal length of 91 mm.

It has a physical focal length of 19 mm ( vs ~14.5 mm for the P30 Pro ) and we estimate that its optics can gather ~30 % more light than Huawei ‘s.

Going from 13 mm ( Samsung ) to 18 mm ( Huawei ) in focal length makes a huge visual difference as the Mate feels much less ultrawide than the S20’s camera.

Note that how fine the detail is is not 100 % relevant because the Mate 30 Pro has a much narrower field of view ( 18 mm vs 13 mm ).

But you must understand that this is a massive smartphone that weighs 220 g ( more than 2 chocolate bars ), and its dimensions are 167 x 76.4 x 11.2 mm ( 8.9 mm without protruding camera optics ).

#light    #image    #brightness    #LUX

And during operation, the it automatically increases the brightness in strong external lighting – 629 cd / m2 ( for the entire white screen ).

The brightness is ~120 LUX, and the image comparison shows how the Galaxy S20 Ultra got better noise reduction, but also how the extra contrast filtering makes the image’s lighting look a bit harsher.

With manual settings, the brightness indicator of the white color of the screen can reach an impressive 388 cd / m2.

These two shots were taken indoors at 9:15 p.m., without any lights on, and only ambient light coming through the window.

If we bring down the brightness to 0.05 LUX ( the equivalent of moonlighting ), the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra will capture a very dark photo, which is life – like ( it’s what you see ), but in that situation, it’s debatable what the user intent is.

#capture    #preserved    #tone

Below, both phones capture the scene very well, with life – like colors and excellent preservation of the scene’s mood, lighting, and brightness. 5

Below, you can again see how well the phones have captured the color hues and general brightness / contrast of the scene.

Using artificial intelligence, Galaxy S20 Ultra can recognize up to 30 types of scenes and adjust color, tone, or recommend a suitable mode and perfect composition.

Both cameras capture very good color hues and use sharpening well, although with some visible ringing artefacts, but within reasonable boundaries.

Once those are off, dynamic range is well preserved, subjects are not overly separated, and skin tones are also portrayed well.

In soft lighting, with no strong highlights, the Galaxy S20 Ultra camera performs extremely well and captures life – like colors and mood.

#detail    #looks

Just as before, the P40 Pro’s photo has a slightly higher level of detail and brighter greens, while the gravel in the background looks more realistic in the S20 Ultra’s photo.

This is most evident in the photos of the moon I shot during the day — the branches look more defined on the Ultra’s photo.

It’s a really tough call to choose between them, but the P40 Pro’s better colors and minor increases in detail give it the win.

It’s an attractive photo, as is the P40 Pro ‘s, and it’s only when you start looking closely that the differences start to appear.

Take a look at the Tokyo plaque on the front of the model, which is clear and sharp in the P40 Pro’s photo, and the difference in the red, white, and blue colors too, which are far more realistic in the Huawei photo.

#pixels    #resolution    #size    #M    #megapixels

The number of pixels went 16 M down to 12 M, but each of the 12 M pixels of the S20 Ultra UW camera is 40 % larger.

When shooting with a resolution of 108 megapixels ( 12000 x 9000 pixels ), photographs use up to 25 MB in size, which is often 5 times larger than conventional images with a resolution of 12 megapixels.

With a resolution of 7,720 by 4,320 pixels, the futureproof footage has four times as many pixels as 4 K clips.

The ISOCELL Bright HM1 module has a width of 1.33 inches and 108 million pixels with a size of 0.8 microns.

The 12 Megapixel ultrawide camera keeps a 13 mm lens, but although the resolution went from 16MP down to 12MP, the sensor size has increased by nearly 50 % since Galaxy S10 / Note 10.

#Mate    #Huawei    #HDR    #capture

Below, a comparison with the Mate 30 Pro’s ultrawide camera shows how much better Mate 30 Pro is with the HDR capture.

Out of the box, both phones capture a very good representation of the scene, with the Huawei Mate 30 pro having an advantage with HDR photography.

If you really want great exposure and HDR out of the box, the Mate 30 Pro will do that very well.

The comparison with the Mate 30 Pro shows an aggressive noise – filtering from Huawei which causes a small loss of Texture on the yellow house.

Below, you can see how the Huawei Mate 30 Pro and the Mi Note 10 both significantly modify the general color and luminosity / contrast of the scene.

#mode    #seconds    #shutter

The night mode can be used to shoot scenes with a slow shutter speed – up to 7.5 seconds with your hand, up to 30 pictures, from which the best options are then selected.

The latest innovations in the field of photography is the Single Take mode, in which the scene is shot within 10 seconds, and then a selection of 10 photos and 4 videos is created, which the program evaluates as the most interesting.

If you do use Night mode, be sure to stay very still, or you’ll end up with lots of blurry photos.

Low – light photo shutter lag is definitely slower than in previous generations, and that would be something that increases friction in the user experience, in our opinion.

#G    #speeds    #network    #LTE    #area

I got speeds about 300Mbps on this network, or about 3x faster than T – Mobile LTE, but way slower than Verizon’s similar 5 G network.

In this area, I saw speeds of about 1,100Mbps, or more than 11x faster than you ‘d normally find on LTE.

This is all to say that 5 G speeds vary a lot depending on your carrier, the type of 5 G connection you have and your location.

If you walk just a half – block away, you’ll lose the signal and fall back to a slower 4 G network.

When I came within the coverage area, a small symbol showed me I had 5 G UWB, or ultra wide band coverage.

if you decide to go the T – Mobile route, you’ll get the most ubiquitous 5 G, but that’s the low band flavor, so call it more like LTE++ if you look at speeds.

#frames    #AI    #select    #export    #adding

For another, you can select frames of your choosing and export them into separate images with 33MP quality – thereby adding to the whole never lose a moment mentality.

I ‘m talking about a dedicated function integrated within the software which allows you select the very frame of your choice and export

In this mode, when you press the shutter the S20 Ultra records a short clip of video, and then AI selects your best frames.

From there, the AI extracts and curates what it deems to be the best shot specifically for you, even providing some stylised edits in an instant ( sometimes even adding stock music because why not ).
