Xiaomi Redmi AirDots S Review, Features, Price & Battery

Redmi Airdots S Part 1

#Bluetooth    #chip    #connectivity

To recall, the Redmi AirDots S true wireless earbuds come with Bluetooth 5.0 to connect to devices with Realtek RTL8763BFR chip.

The Redmi AirDots S comes with Bluetooth 5.0 support and promises to connect immediately with the phone when removed from the case.

#India

We are reviewing the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots S / Xiaomi TWSEJ05LS, the brand new 2020 version of the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots true wireless earbuds series.

No, the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots S TWSEJ05LS is the newest 2020 generation while the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots are the older model from 2019.

Now, the Redmi brand has launched the Redmi AirDots S in China, which is the successor to the last year’s Redmi AirDots.

Yesterday, the latest Redmi AirDots S ( Redmi AirDots 2 ) appeared on the official website of Xiaomi, and the price is only 99.9 RMB, which is the same as that of the previous generation Redmi AirDots 1.

Redmi India official Twitter handle has today shared a post as per which Redmi is entering the audio segment in India.

#noise    #DSP    #reduction    #technology    #quality

These pair of earbuds are equipped with 7.2 mm audio drivers with Digital Signal Processing ( DSP ) noise reduction technology that is capable of reducing background noise while you’re on a call.

The AirDots S earbuds are also equipped with a Digital Signal Processing chip for intelligent environment noise reduction technology to offer high – quality audio calls.

In the compact design, it is also equipped with DSP intelligent environmental noise reduction technology, without worrying about the quality of the call, the environmental noise can be removed, and the other party can clearly hear your voice.

It is packed with a built – in Realtek 8763 chip and can be used for bilateral calls and digital sound quality is assured with its DSP digital noise reduction.

#Realme    #Air    #Buds    #Neo

Realme Buds Air Neo is already listed on the Realme India website, and it confirms Realme Buds Air Neo with 17 hours battery life in total.

Realme Buds Air Neo is already listed on the Realme India website, the Buds Air Neo will come in green, red and white colour options.

The Realme Buds Air Neo has been leaked several times already and the earphones are speculated to be more affordable than the current Realme Buds Air.

A lot of features from Reame Buds Air are expected on Realme Buds Air Neo including support for voice assistant within the truly wireless earbuds.

The nearest competitor for Redmi Earbuds S is Realme Buds Air Neo which is also recently announced and is priced at 2,999 INR.

#S    #isolation    #size

Therefore in isolation, any score that’s above average would mean Xiaomi has done its job, well, with the Redmi Earbuds S.

The Xiaomi Redmi AiDots S have a great design – size – weight relation that results in outstanding comfort and fit.

The sound isolation provided by the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots S TWSEJ05LS is efficient and substantially better performing than most normal earbuds.

Highs on the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots S is able to provide sufficient detail and brightness as to fulfill most average consumer’s needs.

Xiaomi claims that the Redmi Earbuds S, tuned according to the auditory preference of Indian users, are accompanied with three different sizes of silicone tips for an immersive sound experience, right fit and passive noise isolation.

#latency    #mode    #gaming

It also comes with a gaming mode ( low latency mode ) for low wireless latency to 122ms, reducing audio lag while playing games.

In addition to this, the Xiaomi Redmi Airdots S offer a new Game mode , with which the connection is switched to a lower latency mode.

Once the game mode is enabled, the earbuds will enter low – latency mode which reduces the transmission delay, synchronize sound and picture, and enhances the gaming experience.

The Redmi AirDots event page confirmed features as low – latency gaming mode, IP rating for sweat resistance, big battery and voice assistant support.

The company suggests the earbuds feature a low latency gaming mode, which, just as it sounds, reduces the latency while gaming to offer a seamless experience with reduced delay in sound.

#hours    #battery    #life

The 40mAh battery on the headset offers 4 hours of battery life on a single charge, 300mAh battery on the charging case offers 12 hours of backup.

While the battery life on a single charge is rated 4 hours but the charging case extends it up to 12 hours.

As for battery life, Xiaomi claims up to 4-hours of battery life ( 12-hours with case ) and real world figures have been close.

The TWS earbuds are powered by a 40 mAh battery which offers 4 hours of battery life on a single charge while the 300 mAh battery on the charging case offers 12 hours of backup.

As for the battery, the 40mAh battery on the headset delivers 4 hours of backup on a single charge, whereas the 300mAh battery on the charging case offers 12 hours of battery backup facility.

#bass    #mids    #vocals    #frequency

Applying an EQ, lower mids can be reorganized , helping to lower the mid – bass bleed effect and spicing up their female vocals – be conservative, though, to avoid feeding up too much upper mids and harshness peaks.

Male vocals will benefit from the extra layer of warmth while female vocals and upper mids show a friendly but non – muffled tuning.

Nonetheless, the Redmi Airdots S will not drown the rest of the sound spectrum, mids, vocals and highs will have sufficient presence on it’s sound signature.

When listening to music, the low – frequency dive is powerful, and the middle and high – frequency can also ensure enough delicate and soft.

With an EQ, the Xiaomi TWSEJ05LS can squeeze out a way stronger bass response with much deeper sub – bass but some bounciness will be more noticeable.

#brands    #product    #know    #expect

To be honest, at this price, we do not know what to expect as the existing ones are not from popular brands.

As mentioned earlier, we didn’t really know what we can expect at this price point as there are no TWS earphones from major brands.

As for our verdict, as mentioned earlier, we really do not know what to expect as there are no TWS earphones from major brands around this price point.

As of now, things are still unclear, but we expect the brand to reveal more about the product in the coming days.

We will have to wait a few days for the official announcement to know the exact price of the product, and all the features.

#mono    #use    #mode    #earbuds    #output

The left and right earbuds can be used either in mono or binaural modes, meaning that a single earbud can also be used at any given time.

You can choose to use the Redmi Earbuds S in mono or stereo though, which does have its use cases, especially while sleeping.

With not much visual changes in the new model, it does offer a new mono sound output mode that can split the two earbuds as a separate receiver.

Monaural / binaural mode can also be switched seamlessly when we put on only one headset and play in mono, we can quickly restore stereo with the other one, and users don’t have to repair.

#assistant    #voice    #controls    #click    #touch

The Redmi AirDots S headset prevents accidental touches of physical buttons and controls music, calls, and voice assistants with one click.

AirDots S support touch controls and can be used to control music playback, receive calls and use the phone’s voice assistant.

Similar to most other TWS earphones, the Earbuds S also offers touch controls for music controls and quick access to the voice assistant.

A single click pauses songs while double – clicking the button wakes up the Voice Assistant such as Xiao AI smart assistant and Apple’s Siri.

Clicking once at any other time will play or pause audio and clicking twice launches the preferred voice assistant on your device.

Using Touch Controls to Make Your Ears Ease The Xiaomi Air Dots Lite earphones have a touch zone that lets you work with a voice assistant, play or pause music, or simply attend or reject a voice call with a touch.

#device    #connect    #paired

And my favorite implementation here is that once it is paired to a certain device, they directly get connected to that device once removed from the case.

The buds will flash a blue – white color when pairing or connecting to your devices, then when placed into their carry case will flash red to indicate they are charging.

Once paired with your device, the Redmi AirDots S earbuds will automatically power on when you remove them from the case, and they will connect to the most recently used device instantly.

For the most part this was also true when returning to a previously paired device, as the AirDots automatically reconnect when they are removed from the charging case.

Each bud also has an LED under the surface too, which display red when charging and flash white when ready to pair.

#shipping    #Geekbuying    #import    #Gearbest

Product is shipped from the Chinese warehouse of Geekbuying, remember to select priority direct mail in order to have international tax free shipping.

Naturally, sites like eBay offer them a lower entry price of around $ 25 but you’ll have an extended wait with pretty slow shipping from mainland China.

In this first period, obviously the import price will be a bit higher because they are still a novelty, but soon we will see them go down more consistently below the threshold of the euro 20.

In fact, currently Geekbuying sells them with shipment from Italy in 2 working days about 26 EUR ( with i our coupons that you find here ), but street price on AliExpress we have already seen them come down to 17 EUR.

#ear    #buds    #s

Redmi claims to have crafted the buds for a snug fit in the ear canal for long hours of use and minimal ear fatigue.

Inside the box, we get to see a case, two wireless earbuds, two sets of extra ear tips for different ear sizes, and a quick start guide.

Open up that little carry case and you’re greeted by the smaller – than – you’d – expect AirDot buds themselves.

So if you pair with the left bud they will show as ‘L ‘, the same applies to the right bud.

The buds do come with three sizes of ear caps and changing them for a larger one seemed to solve this minor gripe.

The new earbuds ( not the case ) are IPX4 sweat and splash – proof and have a compact design with each bud weighing approximately 4.1 gram.

#volume    #change    #sound    #music

Every time I have to change the music, or increase / decrease volume, I will have to stop my workout and change it on the watch.

Although, I tried listening to music at full volume, but ended up reducing the sound to 85 – 90 % at the highest.

I did not really test the battery life with a constant 100 % of volume here as a few titles sound terrible here.

The volume levels are not as high as expected but is sufficient for most tasks such as calls, movies and music.

The Redmi Earbuds S work well enough in the 75 – 80 % volume range although I am still trying to figure out the sweet spot.

Comparing them with the past version I have to say that in terms of volume does not change much, but there is a slight note differenza in cleaning the sound and in balancing of frequencies.

#button    #controls    #observed    #implementation    #needed

One more annoying thing that we have observed is that, despite having two buttons, there is no implementation here to forward / skip the tracks, and mainly there is no implementation for volume controls here.

They say that the decision was taken to keep the button use as minimal as possible to avoid the learning curve and remembering the different clicks needed for different tasks.

We did have a few instances where the AirDots needed to be encouraged to connect but holding down the button for a second or so usually kick – started the process once more.

It’s true that they don’t offer a huge amount of controls, and the lack of volume buttons is a shame, but by keeping things simple the AirDots deliver where it counts.

#noise    #music    #video    #headphones    #listening

These headphones that are characterized by being independent and not connected to each other by any cable, offer you freedom of movement while listening to music, podcasts or watching a video.

You don’t get anything close to the levels of headphones with full noise cancellation but you can manage to block out a decent amount of background noise.

We have prepared 3 models of ear protectors to meet your highest demands of closure and firmness, even when running, punching and listening to music.

You get a clicky button on either side of each bud that is really infuriating when you’re immersed in music or a video.

Here I want to make a clarification because being in quarantine I was unable to test the headphones in the city or on public transport, but I tried to simulate the noise and the urban bustle through high – volume videos.

#Realme    #Neo    #Air    #price    #launched

The Redmi Earbuds S are priced at Rs 1,799 and that makes it much cheaper than the recently launched Realme Buds Air Neo. 7

Launched with an affordable price tag, the Redmi Earbuds S will compete with the likes of Realme Buds Air Neo in the country.

Xiaomi will face competition from Realme in the segment as well, which recently launched the Realme Buds Air Neo true wireless earphones for Rs. 2,999.

The new Redmi Earbuds S is placed at a much cheaper price point, in comparison to the recently launched Realme Buds Air Neo which has been priced at Rs2,999.

Needless to say, the Redmi Earbuds S will have to compete against the Realme Buds Air Neo that launched in India a day before having a price tag of Rs 2,999.

#Xiaomi    #hours

We are reviewing the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots S / Xiaomi TWSEJ05LS, the brand new 2020 version of the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots true wireless earbuds series.

No, the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots S TWSEJ05LS is the newest 2020 generation while the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots are the older model from 2019.

The true wireless buds are more economical than the recently launched Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 that are available for Rs 4,499.

Xiaomi AirDots goes for 199 yuan ( approximately US$ 30 ) and the Redmi AirDots is selling for a mind – blowing price of 99.9 yuan, or about 15 American dollars.

#hours    #battery    #case    #life

The 40mAh battery on the headset offers 4 hours of battery life on a single charge, 300mAh battery on the charging case offers 12 hours of backup.

#latency    #mode    #gaming    #sound    #smartphone

The dedicated gaming mode ( low latency mode ) brings class leading wireless latency to 122ms, reducing audio lag while playing games.

The low latency mode claims to offer smoother transmission of sound from the smartphone to the earphones with reduced delay, while gaming.

The company suggests the earbuds feature a low latency gaming mode, which, just as it sounds, reduces the latency while gaming to offer a seamless experience with reduced delay in sound.

The earbuds supports SBC codec and a low – latency mode that is activated for gaming on a smartphone to reduce audio lag.

The earphones have a low – latency mode, which will allow for smoother transmission of sound from the smartphone to the earphones with reduced delay.

#pairing    #LED    #case

Both the earbuds feature a LED indicator to notify the user about the charging, the LED on each earbud glows in red color while charging and the LED goes off as soon as the earbud is charged fully.

An LED light can be found on the case as well, the LED glows in red color while charging and LED goes off as soon as the case is fully charged.

The pairing process is exactly the same as Mi AirDots, simply take out the right earbud from the charging case, a white LED starts blinking on the earbud.

In order to pair with a second device, you need to disconnect from the first, put the earbuds back in the charging case and pull them out again to start pairing.

#voice    #assistants    #chip    #support    #Bluetooth

It supports voice assistance i.e. Google and Siri voice assistance and comes with Bluetooth 5.0 chip, which Redmi claims gives double the data transmission as compared to its predecessor.

Apart from these, the earphones bring support for voice assistants as well as environmental noise reduction through the Realtek RTL8763BFR Bluetooth chip.

They support hands – free voice assistance on both Android and iOS devices and offer hassle – free pairing as well.

Weighing just 4.1gms, the wearables feature 7.2 mm drivers, connect over Bluetooth 5.0, and promise hands – free voice assistant feature as well.

There is support for voice assistants, environmental noise reduction through the Realtek RTL8763BFR Bluetooth chip, and the ability to use either earphone individually without separately pairing each earphone of the Redmi Earbuds S.

#ear    #grams    #driver    #mm    #weigh

AirPods weigh approximately 46 grams or 1.6 ounces ( 4 grams per each AirPod and 38 grams for the case ).

And the AirDots weigh approximately 39 grams or 1.4 ounces ( 4.2 grams per each AirDot and 30.6 grams for the case ).

Weighing 4.1 g, the Redmi AirDots S earbuds are tiny with 7.2 mm drivers, yet they produce sound quality that rivals other components with larger drivers.

The product offers Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity; each bud weighs 4.1 grams and sports a 7.2 mm dynamic driver while offering 4 hours of music playback on a single charge.

The Redmi Earbuds S feature 7.2 mm drivers and each bud weighs 4.1 g, thus, making it one of the lightest TWS earphones available.

#assistant    #button    #control    #voice

Users can also access voice assistants like Google Assistant or Siri and can also control the music using the single button.

Similar to most other TWS earphones, the Earbuds S also offers touch controls for music controls and quick access to the voice assistant.

The buttons have multiple functions tied to them and one can control music playback as well as summon the voice assistant on the smartphone.

As for gestures, users can switch between calls, reject or answer them, control music and activate voice assistant directly from the buds.

The button can be used to receive or end calls, play or pause music, summon voice assistants and activate a dedicated gaming mode.

A multi – functional button embedded in the earbuds allows users to summon voice assistants like Siri or the Google Assistant depending on whether the earbuds are connected to an iPhone or Android – powered smartphone.

#volume    #noise    #music

The earphones offer some reduction in the volume of noises, but one still has to raise the volume a bit to be able to listen to music without too much interference.

If you use earbuds a lot for phone calls, you might wanna stay away from AirDots, despite them being good at blocking background noise while listening to music.

This type of device allows you to listen at lower volume levels, causing less ear fatigue as you don’t have to crank up the volume to overcome background noise.

The device sits tightly in place, creating an acoustic seal which reduces background noise and prevents your music from leaking out.

Similar to Mi AirDots, the volume can’t be adjusted by the earbuds and also songs can’t be skipped, I had to reach my phone every time I wanted to adjust the volume or change soundtrack.

#Apple    #AirPods    #devices    #chip    #connect

Apple’s proprietary hardware is top – notch and enables instantaneous usage across iOS devices, from the original AirPods to the AirPods Pro.

The AirPods do connect a little faster to your iPhone because it’s an Apple product, but the AirDots still connect pretty quickly.

Bluetooth 5.0 has helped tremendously with regards to power consumption and multipoint connectivity but has yet to afford the same level of stability we ‘ve seen from Apple – to – Apple devices.

But if you don’t mind the high price tag, want the customization of AirPods, and are already in Apple’s ecosystem, the AirPods may be the way to go.

The older W1 chip has been updated by the 2019 H1 chip, which is designed to perform just a few tasks incredibly well.

#bass    #mids    #sound    #vocals

Nonetheless, the Redmi Airdots S will not drown the rest of the sound spectrum, mids, vocals and highs will have sufficient presence on it’s sound signature.

Applying an EQ, lower mids can be reorganized , helping to lower the mid – bass bleed effect and spicing up their female vocals – be conservative, though, to avoid feeding up too much upper mids and harshness peaks.

In terms of sound, the earphones have more emphasis on the lower frequencies i.e. a heavy bass sound for Indian users.

Male vocals will benefit from the extra layer of warmth while female vocals and upper mids show a friendly but non – muffled tuning.

Bass is more present in the mix and this gives the sound more body and depth; lows are also more detailed and faster.

Redmi Earbuds S still does a fine job with noise cancellation during calls, but call quality takes a hit in noisy environments.

Environmental Noise Cancellation ( ENC ) technology has been used to enhance call experience by suppressing ambient noise to make voice clearer on the receiving side.

#latency    #gaming    #mode    #reducing    #support

The dedicated gaming mode ( low latency mode ) brings class leading wireless latency to 122ms, reducing audio lag while playing games.
